28.01.2025 - Tuesday Bourbon Mood

  • Brush: AP Shave Co. Snakeskin handle w/ 26 mm Silksmoke Flattop Fan hybrid knot
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn
  • Blade: Perma-Sharp half DE
  • Lather: Wholly Kaw - King of Bourbon
  • Post-Shave: Moon Soaps Old School "balm"

-> single pass head and face shave. Rather good, some minor irritation on the face but nothing serious.

King of Bourbon is a great soap, but as I rarely use WK I had a bit of trouble building a good lather at first. However once I got it right, it was great.

Those Perma-Sharp are new. I thought they were made in Turkey, but wrong - it's Russia again. Granted, either country is run by a dictator, but it seems like I can't find something made in the EU that doesn't suck. These here are really good and tbh, I don't think the russian people are to blame for their shitty government. The blades did a very solid job in the Thorn, that's for sure.

Still only one pass on the face. It has healed for the most part. There was some slight irritation right next to the left side of the goatee, but nothing extreme. Kinda what I expected. The pseudo-balm takes good care of it, but I suspect it slowly starts to go rancid... granted, with that awful consistency it's probably a given thing.

  • Brush: Wolfman WRB2 Bronze w/AP Shave Co MiG 26mm Premium Hybrid

  • Razor: Parker 510 13/16" Square Point Full Hollow

  • Lather: Faena - Taurus - Soap

  • Aftershave: Elysian Soap Shop - El Dorado - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Fabulous shave today. The fragrance (musk, whiskey, and wood) is mild but the soap base (for which Faena is quite proud) is just exceptional. I don't use this enough!

Nonidi 9 Pluviôse an 233 de la Révolution, jour du Peuplier

I took out the frio today – a surprisingly light razor, given its size, and very sharp. I should use it more regularly.

Have a good evening!

I should use it more regularly.

The Frios are great. Early in our straight razor collecting journey, @djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social and I were puzzled by the common representation of stainless razors as being inferior to those that aren't stainless. The solution? Stainless is a different steel. A razor that has great geometry (think Frio 14), made with stainless, and properly honed, is every bit as good a shaver as a carbon-steel razor in the same geometry.

Jan 28, 2025 - Tea Tuesday: TNeV

Great scent for an incredible Tea Tuesday.

[–] gcgallant 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I decided on a Taurus Tuesday at the last minute. TNeV sets the standard for tea scents. Amazing stuff!

💯

Faena is new to me, but the water buffalo milk and Greek goat yoghurt formula looks interesting.

Developed the ring of death on this tub.

I got tired of my razors sliding around in my razor drawer, so today I went and got some drawer liner.

Wow such order (and black shoes) 😜

[–] walden 3 points 1 day ago

Almost "order". Order would be if I cleaned my razors and put all of the GEMs and all of the DEs together.

[–] djundjila 4 points 1 day ago

Well, we made it here on time, so that's a good start 😊

Same again.

Ring had been smashed to the middle of the tub. Not long now. (Spoiler it'll probably be end of Feb given how little I shave)
