Sorry to hear about your back!

It was Blugère Bubbles for me today as well!

Blugère++;

Love the Wald Haunter! I have one as well.

The soap in the tub is a very dark gray. Not quite black. If it were black, than it would be, "how much more black could this be?".

Wow! Amazing shave today. Blugère is always great and the coticule edge on this Böker is sharp and very comfortable.

So, today’s theme is remembering a dictator taking permanent power and giving the coup de grâce to a centuries old republic

Pretty much how I read it ;-)

  • Brush: Zenith B40 28mm Boar

  • Razor: Filarmonica 13 Novodur 13/16" Para Profesionales Full Hollow

  • Lather: Eufros - Rosa Oud - Soap

  • Aftershave: Eufros - Rosa Oud - Aftershave Balm

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I planned this shave before I saw the theme, but I think my Zenith brush fits.

This Filarmónica 13 is such an amazing 6/8. Definitely among my best. Everything feels right about this razor when I use it.

Eufros is another Spanish brand with a soap that has its own character. I think this one will be my next BVWSC suggestion.

That's an absolutely perfect comparison! I took a huff of SV Desert Vetiver when I received Noir. It's in family with Noir, but lacks that musky weight.

January 15, 2025 -- Buena Vista Wetshaving Social Club

  • Brush: Wald Stratos Goldvein 29mm A1 Fan

  • Razor: Thiers Issard Le Transatlantic 7/8" Full Hollow Round Point

  • Lather: Los Jabones de Joserra - Noir - Soap

  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Cerberus - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I think Jose Martinez (the proprietor of LJdJ) is a bit of an artist. The soap base for Noir is:

sebum, shea butter, coconut butter, camellia oil, castor oil, lanolin, glycerin, activated charcoal and green clay

The color of the soap is a dark gray. I'd guess this is due to the charcoal. The base, itself, is rich creamy and dense. It takes water very well, but don't expect a lot of fluffy volume. The skin feel is fantastic IMHO.

The soap has a very interesting scent. Maybe not an everyday scent, but certainly something I will go back to often. Here are the scent notes:

cypress, vetiver, frankincense and musk

The blend is such that you get a hint of each note but not one stands out. Though not a complex fragrance, I think it is well blended and unique.

Old Reliable really worked for me this morning. Was feeling tired and grumpy and the trifecta woke me up and made me take notice. Great stuff!

Hope you're on the mend soon!

  • Brush: Oumo Compass Bonfire 27mm Emperor-2

  • Razor: Kikuboshi R. Saito 6/8" Extra Hollow

  • Lather: Mäurer and Wirtz - Tabac - Soap

  • Aftershave: Mäurer & Wirtz - Tabac - Aftershave

  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz - Tabac - Eau de Toilette

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Awesome Tabac Tuesday. The smile in the R. Saito blade makes it a joy to use. It finds its way into difficult areas to shave with ease.

I still have DG Opulence. It will not lather. Don't know why I keep it. My real treasures are 4 PAA soaps that stopped using long before I joined r/Wetshaving and learned PAA's history. Those will be gone this year.

This offer is for those who want to take on one, or more, of the straight razor challenges for Austere August. If you are hesitant to participate because your straight isn't shaving well, and you don't want to hone it yourself, or, if you just want someone else to hone your razor, I'll be happy to do it for you -- for free. (But, I don't charge sub.wetshaving.social members anyway.) And, I'll even cover some, or all of your return postage.

This offer is for razor honing only. I don't do razor restoration or repair other than for myself. I'm certain that there is time between now and August for a package to make a round-trip through the US Postal Service in CONUS. If you live elsewhere, just PM me and we can discuss it.

If you're interested in this, please PM me or contact me via Matrix to work out details.

I should add that you can have your choice of finish: synthetic, coticule, Black Arkansas, Black Shadow (a French slate), or Japanese Natural stone. For stainless razors, because of the added chromium in the steel, the safe bet is a synthetic edge.
