sometimes I wish I could get away with such a blatant grift. I love my $15 wood and leather watch.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 12 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Have you thought of selling it as a wood and leather watch- but with AI?

maybe I could write "rump" on it and sell it for $80,000

[–] Sasquatch@lemmy.ml 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

You got a cuckoo clock on your wrist? That's all I think of when you say a wooden watch

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

it's similar to this. got it from amazon back off one of their first prime day thingies, I've only had to change the battery twice in ten years so I like it. I like the minimalistic look tho

[–] dogma11@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

I'm not much for watches and stuff. I have my phone, it does what I need and then some. But that is one nice looking watch.

Simple but elegant.

The Con-Man continues to live up to his reputation.

The small print at the bottom of the page is quite something.

Trump Watches are not designed, manufactured, distributed or sold by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization or any of their respective affiliates or principals. TheBestWatchesonEarth LLC uses the “Trump” name, image and likeness under a paid license agreement which may be terminated or revoked according to its terms. Trump Watches are intended as collectible items for individual enjoyment only, not for investment purposes. The images shown are for illustration purposes only and may not be an exact representation of the product. These watches are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign

So they are absolute trash.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 26 points 1 week ago

Bulk ordered from Ali Express

[–] Good_morning@lemmynsfw.com 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So he's not seen as the one to directly profit from it, but can still make a quick buck on the licensing and play dumb when the watches are worthless crap

[–] boonhet@lemm.ee 6 points 6 days ago

Fuck me, at this point I feel like it wouldn't be too hard to just... create a website selling expensive ass Trump shit and in reality dropship it from Aliexpress

I mean there's probably a bunch of people doing it, but I wonder how hard it would be to do it without, y'know, any legal trouble.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 week ago

Wait we’re allowed to just declare that something isn’t political? Neat! I declare access to abortions to be non-political as well.

[–] cultsuperstar@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago

"These watches are not designed to give accurate time and should not be used to tell time or keep track of time."

[–] BarrelAgedBoredom@lemm.ee 20 points 1 week ago

🤔🤔🤔

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago

"TheBestWatchesonEarth" I can already imagine how tasteful the watches are based on the company name

Must be gathering cash for one of his whores. Maybe that Jigsaw chick.

[–] Plum@lemmy.world 83 points 1 week ago

It's him. He's the whore.

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 44 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Wow, these are some truly hideous watches. This has got to be a money laundering scheme or something. No one actually interested in watches would spend six figures on one of these.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

I was like $100.00 is not that bad.

Why buy a Hublot when you can get in on Trump's latest Aliexpress drop instead? It can even pass as a Rolex at 20 feet

Since people keep commenting on how it looks. Here they are. That way you don't have to give that cretin more clicks.

[–] TriflingToad@lemmy.world 17 points 6 days ago

those actually look kinda cool... for like $200.

[–] bestagon@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

So a Rolex rip with gaudy jewels and a cheap looking logo

[–] evidences@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (7 children)

Dude if someone told me this was a modded Seiko 5 with a "tourbillion" movement in it I would 100% believe it.

[–] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

Sadly it only has a fluxdepacitor. It's like a flux capacitor but it resists moving in time instead.

the $500 ones have mineral glass crystals - sapphire coated.

movement is not mentioned, just "Automatic Movement With Date Window"

signature on the dial looks atrocious

grifter trash

[–] Freefall@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Sapphire isn't even that expensive anymore. So cheap. The "automatic movement" really gives it Wal-Mart vibes 🤣

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

I once bought a replacement face off eBay for 20eur. It's probably as cheap as the glass equivalent.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

sapphire coated? Like those screen protectors I can get for my phone for ten, twenty bucks?

[–] noxy@yiffit.net 3 points 6 days ago

Even that sounds too expensive! Unless it's like a three pack or something

[–] LucidNightmare@lemm.ee 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is this not blatant money laundering?

[–] Eximius@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Unless he is destroying the watches and saying "oh look, I received these duffle bags of cash".

No, no, I think this is just blatant scamming.

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 6 days ago
  1. Trump gives Joe $1mil worth of Cocaine
  2. Trump manufacturers a watch at the cost of $10/each
  3. Joe buys 10 of these watches for $100k each

That is how you money launder via purchases. It's more common to use artwork but you get the gist.

You don't need to destroy the watch for it to be money laundering. If he receives cash for the watch, he can hide the exact amount by means of some Weisselberg-esque money tricks.

But yeah, more than likely it's his semi yearly trashy overpriced product drop.

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Foreign nationals are prohibited from donating to Trump’s campaign fund. There’s no rule against them buying a dozen overpriced watches, though. They may not even be upset that their order is never delivered.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 days ago

Nope just good old American grifting.

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You know it's got a tiny watch face so it doesn't dwarf his tiny hands.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

His hands aren't even particularly small. But he's an old, fat and decrepit man and he needs a very large and padded suit to give his body some sort of healthy appearance. His hands sticking out of that suit therefore look tiny.

Seriously, look at the pictures of him golfing in his XXXL polo shirt. The guy is shaped like one of the McNuggets

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 18 points 1 week ago

LOL "gold"

yea, i'm sure. just like those fuglidiculous sneakers

[–] ravhall@discuss.online 17 points 1 week ago (3 children)
