Mar 30, 2024 - ๐Ÿชป Champs de Lavande ๐Ÿชป

  • Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Green & Ivory 24mm Synthetic 2-Band Synthentic Knot
  • Razor: EldrormR Industries MM24 #MMarch24
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE [30]
  • Lather: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux - Champs de Lavande - Soap
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Beloved - Splash

My first impression of Champs de Lavande was not favorable, but this morning's shave with it was much better. Beloved's opening blast of mint and lavender is still among my favorites.

Rating: 4.5/5

Champs de Lavande was not favorable

Nor was mine. My first impression was actually of a faint odor of hay and horse. I was thinking that Shawn went a bit too far with his Oregon Trail/prairie analogy. This changed for me as I become more aware of the composition of the fragrance.

I got a similar earthy vibe the first time as well.

  • Brush: Stirling 24mm Synthetic
  • Blade: Cien Men 2-Blade Cart (4)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Ozark Mountain - Soap
  • Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Ice Blue - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

So good. I love Stirling soap, and Ozark is so nice. If I recall correctly, "smoke" is listed in the scent notes, but it doesn't smell smokey. It's a mellow evergreen, so maybe the smoke is just enough to cut down any sharp evergreen peaks.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Well, I was certain that BaM would win March Madness but, of course, I too used HoM in yesterday's finals.

I chose Seville today to honor the runner up. Awesome shave using the MM24.

Spartan Travel Shave

  • Brush: Boti Motherlode knot in laminated wooden handle, 30 mm
  • Razor: Wolfman Satin WR1 dual comb 0.74 mm gap head on hollow WRH1 handle
  • Blade: Lord New Platinum Class
  • Lather: Ogallala Bay Rum and Vanilla
  • Aftershave: Speick Men Active

Congrats to House of Mammoth and Barrister and Mann for a great match yesterday!

I took Djunior for a long weekend in the mountains with Oma and Opa, and we promptly got cut off from the valley by a land slide, so I'm not sure how often I'll repeat this shave ๐Ÿ˜…

The good news is that this setup is Spartan, but pleasant. The WR1 in particular is a great razor with a decent amount of blade feel and fantastic efficiency.

Eh, limited wildness: I woke up to the news that the road has been freed overnight

Right; canceling preps for a Tabac-Dovo airdrop

It's good to have a group of hobby friends who really know me and my deepest fear of a tabacless apocalypse ๐Ÿฅฐ
