Am I the only one old enough to remember that no 3D GTA ever released on PC first? This should have been expected.

It pisses me off each time, but I also expected it.
Yes it will, it will come to PC a year or two later in a "special edition" to make all the suckers to double dip.

Unsurprising. Other than the first two, none of them have launched on PC at the same time as consoles.
Damn guess I'll just never buy it till the inevitable port then.
When I fkrst read this I thought this was a joke post of someone not being able to start the game on their PC.
Not news as it's 100% in line with their previous releases. I assume they are just paid by the console makers for exclusivity (though in this case not platform exclusivity but console in general).
The good thing is that the PC version usually gets the version that's graphically improved, like the next-gen version of GTA V that came for Xbone as opposed to the launch version for Xbox 360.
I'm not really excited for it anymore anyway. GTA V was a huge disappointment, as no single-player DLC was ever released. I've never been interested in the online stuff so the whole game is a distant memory for me. I also thought the story lacked the depth of previous games. The three characters felt too generic.
What I'd be really stoked for is GTA: San Andreas for Oculus Quest. It was announced by Meta 2 years ago and there has been zero info about it since so I doubt it's still coming. But if it did I'd jump on it <3
Well looks like I won't be getting this game on release then I like to wait for bugs anyway

Still, it is completely insane. Outside of Sony exclusives they are the only large company that does this.
They've made it known they don't care for PC players in the past. It's like that toxic ex that occasionally turns up at your door to gice you a pity fuck before slapping you in the face then leaving again

I'd rather they conserve resources to make a finished game on some platforms than an unfinished one on many. Look what happened when CDPR tried to release Cyberpunk on 9 platforms at once.
Well it was mainly screwed on consoles though, not on PC 😺

Seriously though, if it doesn't come out on PC it probably means I won't be missing anything for the first couple years it exists. I can't recall an exclusive that I felt I needed right away.
Especially the old-school ones. Halo is just so much better on PC, especially now that I can torture my friends with brutal legendary difficulty mods for halo 3... Good times.
Usual two year wait, then the next gen console re-releases. There's absolutely no need to purchase this new at full price unless you like the multiplayer, which for some reason some people do.
RIP PC gamers. We probably wont get it till 2027.

Two main reasons I can think of:
- focus on polishing each version (less hardware variety on consols to deal with)
- easy way to get people to double dip

It'll prolly be more like 25 years between 6 and 7. There is definitely some manner of exponential curve to GTA release dates.
And even milk the console manufacturers maybe?
Fine with me, as long as the PC version is stable patched on release.

Pretty sure they'd release mobiile > console > PC if they could get away with it.
The PC release will be a year or so after to get people to double dip.
Is console bigger than PC? This is the first thing I've found and it suggests PC is around 20% bigger and projected to stay bigger than the console market.
There's thousand different stats around this, but generally most analysts place consoles slightly ahead of PC with stronger growth potential, but it depends a bit where in the generation cycle they do their measurements.
Most of this has been overshadowed by mobile gaming though.
Rockstars been a console focused developer forever. PC is always an afterthought.

Its probably the same game as GTA V, but with different music anyway, especially judging by the trailer
The fact that this is even news at all confirms, yet again, that the memory of the general audience of the videogame industry only goes back to the last 6 to 8 months, if that.
People remember, it's more that some people hope that Rockstar will stop their bullshit eventually. PC gaming is in a very different place than it was when GTA V released.
Hm yeah you are right, I shouldn't deride the public for hoping this time it would be different. That was too harsh on my part.

Eh... Gives me enough time to find out if the game is actually worth it. And its not like I have a choice anyway since I dont have a current gen console and after my experience with the last gen thats not going to change.

There isn't anything on here that confirms it won't launch on PC. They don't credit the list of systems it will launch on to anyone and no one at Rockstar has confirmed what it will launch on formally yet.
