I see someone has been buying into the concept of small, local change. Respect.

[–] shoulderoforion@fedia.io 46 points 1 week ago

direct action

they parked IN the corral? they made their choice.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 24 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Wow, I've never seen that. I might just go around and collect all the loose carts to put them behind that car.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

like, when you see someone with a good idea, it's contagious

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Going to be real, considering the lot has empty spots this feels like a dementia or related condition thing.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

perhaps. or it could just be some random prick who couldn't be fucked.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Does it? I don't see any open spots in the picture.

[–] RippleEffect@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

I'm pretty sure there's an open space in the picture 3 or 4 cars down. Either way, there were better decisions they could make

[–] Leg@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

I'm late to learning to drive, and I fear I could do this without realizing I've done it. But after this, I can tell you I wouldn't do it again.

I can already hear the “I don’t want anyone to ding my doors” complaints.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 70 points 1 week ago (3 children)

never seen on of these that would fit a car, always have a rail in the middle

That is 100% a Costco, and those parking lots are already godless places.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 week ago

Lol I do appreciate the Costco size parking spaces. You'd have to be a really asshole to ding someone's doors in a Costco parking lot.

[–] PM_Your_Nudes_Please@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah, Costco on a Saturday afternoon is the Mad Max of parking lots. Karens will prowl the lot a dozen times in search of a good spot, just to avoid parking behind the building. And god save you if you manage to be closer to an open spot than they are; They feel like they “deserve” the spot because they’ve been prowling.

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

Maybe this one did have a rail!

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 1 points 1 week ago

Exactly. Dumb person (or lazy? I don't know how full the closer spots are), but also bad design. If you make it wide enough, idiots might take advantage of it. Also, the center divider helps keep the carts aligned, so workers don't have to go in there and turn around dozens of sideways carts...

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

That puts this guy into a whole nother version of Satan.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 36 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I can guarantee they just throw every cart there in some random direction to get their car out.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Maybe it's like the grocery store I go to where you have to put money in the carts to unlock and they all lock together.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That'd make it 10x more annoying, but certainly still possible for them to be a dickhead about getting their car out. They'd just make it some other fuckers problem by chaining them in the middle of the lot.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That's why you add a bike lock to the front cart.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 week ago

10/10 icing on the cake move.

[–] kn33@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Wouldn't the front cart need something to lock into anyway to release the quarter?

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Reverse, mash the gas pedal. Wherever the carts skitter to, is where they land.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's a good way to fuck up your paint, and your drive train if one of them goes under.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Do you really think somebody who parked in the cart corral cares about such things?

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 week ago

Potentially. Being an asshole doesn't mean you have foresight.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 week ago

It absolutely infuriates me when people in the Costco parking lot don’t use the cart corrals, and just tip the front 2 wheels up on some curb. It’s so fucking lazy and selfish, but then that’s the Costco for you.

Also, what kind of asswipe parks in the cart corral? Oh, right, Costco.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 14 points 1 week ago

I mean, where are we supposed to put them? ;)

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 week ago

Put wheel dollies under the car and wheel it into the cart storage area inside the store.

[–] BigDanishGuy@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

That's a great first step.

Second step is popping back in the store and getting the cheapest bike chain locks, or wire locks for luggage, and attaching the trolleys, closest to the car, to each other and the coral. Three locks should do it.

Third step would be even more vindictive. Maybe crossing some line, IDK. But while in the shop, pick up some nails or thumbtacks. I'll let what you do with the tacks be up to your imagination, but I'll bet the driver won't notice stuff on the ground behind the wheels in their rage over the locked trolleys.

Fourth step, move your car so that the situation is observable, and wait. Do not let the driver know about your existence.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

None of the corrals round here would even fit a bike

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago

Costco around here are that size. take up the whole spot and have no dividers.

[–] MothmanDelorian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

If it didn't have a roof the one closest to my house would fit a car.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Punctuation.

[–] Korne127@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago
[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago
