What could possibly go wrong?

(Feel free to replace "Jews" with the marginalized group of your choosing.)

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 39 minutes ago

What makes you think nothing is being done to bring it about? How could you possibly know?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 0 points 50 minutes ago

Yes. To the point that I have spent hours every week both trying my hardest to contact politicians on their behalf and finding Palestinians to talk to so that I can hear their problems and sympathize with them.

And you have just squandered yet another opportunity to show you care about queer or brown people. Even if you claimed you cared at this point, it's really obvious that you don't.

I am a dual national and I am currently in Blackburn, Lancashire, UK.

But I think that you have shown that you care much more about being right than you do about being understood, so I think I can move on.

I don’t know why you’re implying I don’t care.

Because I've literally pointed out multiple times that you have shown no compassion for queer and brown people and what they are facing and you refuse to show any. Over and over, when given the opportunity, you showed that you could not give less of a shit about them.

Suddenly saying "I don't want this" is not compassion. This has nothing to do with what you want.

So I am doing more than implying you don't care. You've been given ample opportunity to show you care and have not taken it.

You sure implied we won't go extinct:

I’m still optimistic about humans doing alright in the long run, afterall we’ve survived so far and our ancestors have gone through much much worse.

And sorry, telling me not to worry when I am over in the UK with my daughter to keep her safe from the queer genocide in America, but no job yet and slowly dwindling savings, and my wife is still over in the U.S. and I have no idea if I can bring her over and my daughter herself can only legally stay here for six months unless I make over £28,000 a year and I can't get her the medication she needs over here, so I can only hope that my wife can get and send it in time... you don't know shit about what I'm going through. If I didn't worry about all of that, I wouldn't have even left the U.S. to protect her.

Assuming everyone here is American really makes me think you're blaming the wrong party.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (4 children)

It most certainly doesn't change my analysis that you have no compassion for queer and brown people facing a genocide since you still have expressed none for them, and now are implying that there isn't even a danger.

Do you know how many years it took from Hitler becoming chancellor to the Final Solution?

Seven.

Seven years.

Presumably you would have told any fleeing Jew or Roma or queer person when Hitler took power that the genocide was only theoretical, so they had no need to escape.

Quite the position of privilege you're in.

This seems complicated. Can't we just go back to what they did in the old days- seeing if they're not guilty of being antifa if you drown them and they don't die?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Probably. But you dismantle the CIA and everyone will want a piece of the U.S. and try to take it.

Theoretically? Again, I literally did it. On inauguration day.

You are not even reading my posts.

Also, in my eyes, there is no real difference between a fascist and someone who will stand uncaring as fascists oppress queer people.

Here's how that process is going so far for at least one federal employee.

After receiving the offer, the employee -- who works at a federal agency -- told ABC News they were initially nervous and fearful about the prospect. But after thinking it over for about a day, they followed the instructions in the OPM email and replied with the word "resign" in the body and their name in the subject line, according to a copy of the email reviewed by ABC News.

"This is happening," the employee told ABC News. "I was scared, nervous, and excited all at the same time. Thought about it for a day I think. ... And I just told myself that I'm going to do it."

A few hours later, they received a response from OPM: "We received your email response. We will reply shortly," according to an email reviewed by ABC News.

Nearly a week later -- and days before the resignation deadline on Thursday -- that message is the last direct correspondence this employee has had with OPM about accepting the offer.

The employee said that inside their agency, there has been confusion among their colleagues and silence from management. When they informed management that they had accepted OPM's offer, they received no response, according to the employee.

Later, when they followed up with management, they were told they should have waited for more guidance before accepting the offer, they told ABC News.

Literally all it takes is to say nice things to him. Amazing.

That is on the green plaque to the left. This is only accessible by going through the building in Blackburn, UK, where we are doing a short term rental. It is a level below the car park and the only other way in and out is through a locked gate underneath the road on a path to a Morrisons.

So only residents can make the pilgrimage now and the only healing that was being done was by me going down there in the first place to use a certain only semi-legal thing I do for medical reasons.

I will warn you that the images are not pleasant.

Oolitic also has a statue to no longer famous comic strip character Joe Palooka. They're very proud of it.

I come from Bloomington, which is just north of Oolitic. It's well-known where the limestone from the Empire State Building came from if you live there, but I never saw the actual quarry before.
