Oct 31, 2024 - Halloween Week - Theme Thursday - Spooky Shaves Day

  • Brush: Zenith Multi-Color (2006 XSE) 21mm Unbleached Boar Knot
  • Razor: Aylsworth Razors Drakkant Ti
  • Blade: Gillette Platinum [11]
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Boonana - Soap
  • Post Shave: MacDuffs Soap Company - Haunted Cabin - Aftershave (Alcohol Free)
  • Fragrance: Southern Witchcrafts - Samhain - Eau de Parfum

Boonana is just an awesome scent. I get lots of compliments on it, but some interesting looks when I reveal the name.

Haunted Cabin is pumpkin and kettle corn to my nose, and reminds me of Fall festivals.

The pumpkin-forward Samhain, while on the nose for the theme, tied everything together.

🎃 Happy Halloween!👻

Hah! I have Boonana and never think of using it for some reason. Great choice! I see some of that in my future :)

Can't go wrong with Boonana!

Auld Stank Syne Thu Oct 31 2024

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal, now with 28 mm Gelousy knot
  • Razor: Böker – 14er (8/8", extra hollow, carbon steel, square point)
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

Should old Stank® glory be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old Stank® fragrance be forgot,
and auld lang syne? 🎵

For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of Stankness yet,
for auld lang syne. 🎶

The year of the Stank® 2024 is over, the TabOKtoberfest festivities are winding down, and Stanksgiving is upon us. Today's Stanklebration was a dignified, somber, and bittersweet affair. Bittersweet because the wonderful Böker 14er is smooth, the Stank® is glorious, the brush is luxurious, the lather is slick, the routine is on point. Everything is as good as it's gonna get, but at the same time, routine is starting to turn into monotony and it's time to move on.

BBS November will be a nice change of pace and I have the first 14 SOTDs already set up. I'm looking forward to mixing it up both hardware and software wise.

I had a solid plan for BBS November. It has been sidetracked twice. So, a free-for-all where shaving is concerned :)

Oh, I hope nothing bad happened!

[–] gcgallant 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No, I have some travel coming up and a visit from my daughter. I could plan shaves that were intolerant of these types of events, but I'm OK with Just In Time Scheduling.

October 31, 2024 - Halloween Shave

  • Brush: Yaqi - Sagrada Familia 24mm synthetic
  • Razor: Gilette - Super Speed Black Tip
  • Blade: Gilette - 7 O'clock SharpEdge (4)
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Boonana
  • Post: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber AS splash
  • Post: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave Balm (+menthol)
  • Frag: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber EdP

Really excellent results with the Super Speed today. I also very much enjoy the scent of Boonana, but it seems this is another soap that gives me a bit of frag burn. I think there must be a bit of cinnamon oil in there.

I was considering the trifecta before today's shave. Now back to the drawing board for a properly spooky set.

Have a good one! ✌️

31.10.2024 - Halloween Shave: Samhain

  • Brush: RazoRock Beehive 28 mm
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn
  • Blade: snapped KCG
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Samhain
  • Post-Shave: Thayer's Original toner; Natura Siberica ASB gel

1 pass on the head, 1 on the face around my moustache and goatee. The face shave felt better than the head shave - I suppose the dome won't get used to daily shaving.

Ghouls, ghosts and goblins, today is finally Halloween! Of course I used Samhain. I really look forward to this scent every time; sadly this year without the matching AS since I now weirdly have allergic reactions to that.

Today was also a day where I spontaneously decided that I'll trim my short beard down into something different. I now sport a style similar to this - minus the hair and Christian Bale's awesomeness of course. Net profit is that I finally can shave the parts of my jawline that are prone to itching. It felt good to shave my cheeks again - the patchy growth there really doesn't do my skin any favours and I can wear something nicer and tidier now.

So, Halloween is usually a day off for me. We have a regional christian holiday in East Germany and that's why many church officials are strongly opposed to Halloween. Baffling, since Christianity took over celtic pagan traditions with their own holidays. This video explains it very well in short (Buzzfeed Unsolved is way better than their parent company). My only gripe with the holiday? It became too commercial and too soft. Regardless, I hope everyone of you has a fine time today!
