  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal, now with 28 mm Gelousy knot
  • Razor: Ralf Aust 5/8" full hollow, Spanish tip, carbon steel
  • Razor: Ralf Aust 5/8" full hollow, Spanish tip, stainless steel
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

I have this long-running and slow-going experiment with these twin razors. One's stainless steel, the other one isn't and they are completely identical otherwise. So much so that I can't tell them apart unless I use a scale because the stainless one is heavier by just shy of one gram.

I'm thinking that at some point, I should start feeling a difference, but today is not that day. They are the same razor for all intents and purposes. One day...

Do you notice any difference with how easy these are to hone, or how well they keep an edge?

It's cool that you have two razors with such a slight difference. I could also see myself trying to sleuth out some difference between the two!

They're still both on their factory edges, and both still keeping them well.

  • Brush: Zenith 508A XL/Bristle (B35) (MOAR BOAR) 31mm
  • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
  • Blade: Derby Premium (1)
  • Lather: Williams Mug Soap - Soap
  • Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Ice Blue - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: allMan - Refined - Balm

Decent shave, but not the best. I rarely use Williams, and I rarely use Derby Premium blades, so I'm not sure which one of those caused the shave to be not as close as I'm used to.

27.10.2024 - Sunday SOTN

  • Brush: RazoRock Beehive 28 mm
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn
  • Blade: snapped KCG
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Texas on Fire
  • Post-Shave: Capanova Natural aftershave repair balm

-> 1 pass head shave. It was fast 'cause it was late, but a good shave overall.

Smokey Stirling goodness never disappoints. This stuff smells like the aftermath of a raging fire; something very fitting for this time of the year, as we had big autumn fires at the end of October when I was a child. This only ended after they were forbidden due to the many accidents and wildfires they caused...

This soap causes no burn however. The new ASB does (damn alcohol), but only for a very short moment.

An important question

Does anyone know what happened to @Mayana@sub.wetshaving.social ??? The recent question about body shaving on our instance made me realise how we sorely miss someone like them with their body shaving knowledge. Their last post is from over a year ago... I really hope they are ok. 😥

I think I've seen them on the sub or discord or somewhere recently.

They deleted their Reddit account, but it's good to hear they are still active today 👍🏻

I’ve been very curious about this soap for a while but haven’t pulled the trigger.

Is it primarily wood smoke, or do you get other notes as well?

[–] DaveWave94 3 points 3 weeks ago

My scent descriptions are notoriously bad, so take it with a grain of salt: I'd say it has somewhat of a wet smoke quality to it - like a fire that has been put out. Not a dry smoke like incense.

It's a divisive scent, I'd definitely recommend a sample first. That one is surely not a scent to impress your significant other... It's more of a "wear it for yourself" thing.

  • Brush: Zenith - B21 boar
  • Razor: Gilette - Super Speed Black Tip
  • Blade: Gilette - 7 O'clock SharpEdge (2)
  • Lather: Stirling - Autumn Glory
  • Post: Stirling - Ramblin' Man AS splash
  • Post: Ginger's Garden - Unscented AS Balm + menthol
  • Frag: Stirling - Ramblin' Man EdT

Learning how to use this Super Speed has been an interesting experience. I often find myself thinking that it's too light, but if I can match it with a very light touch I get great results.

I stand by my opinion that Stirling soaps were made for boar brushes. The lather this morning was incredible.

Have a great Sunday y'all. ✌️

  • Brush: Oumo Compass Bonfire 27mm Emperor-2

  • Razor: Kampfe Bros Star Razor

  • Blade: Kampfe Bros "Saturday" Blade from 7-Day Set

  • Lather: Gentleman's Nod - Tusitala - Soap

  • Aftershave: Gentleman's Nod - Tusitala - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

This was my first time using a Kampfe Bros Star razor. It was sent to me so that I could sharpen the blades that come with it. The sharpening is done, so I needed to do a test shave to see how things turned out. I found the Star pretty easy to adapt to and I love the steam-punk vibe that I get from it.
