Pretty great, except this blade is pretty much done. I took a break from killing Caoba because that tub is now packed away in my suitcase for my trip to Atlanta for training. I also packed my envelope of soap from @gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social for use tomorrow. Woot!
You & I (Will Die) has really grown on me. Once I found out that the volatile hit up front was "floral" I found a new respect for it. Of my Mammoth tubs, of which I have 3, it's my favorite. I still want a tub of Voices if Ben ever changes the label on it (which might happen now that Lather Talk has ended?).
I finally did a tele-health call today, since I've been sick on and off (more on than off) for well over a month now. The doctor on the phone was like "uh, yeah, usually we tell people to wait 10 days, so you're well past that". It was a super fast call, and I already have some antibiotics in me doing their thing. Yahoo!
Hope you're on the mend soon!
Thanks! This whole time has been pretty mild. Still working, etc. That's probably why it's so widespread here - everyone is going about their day with whatever virus.
I unfortunately have to chime in here with some nursing-related "well, ackshually ๐ค": if it's actually a virus but it's treated with antibiotics, this doesn't do any good. Perhaps only to prevent secondary infections with bacteria in the best case; worst case, it makes more germs resilient against antibiotics. The name "antibiotics" is kinda misleading. Antibacterial, yes indeed. But they do jack shit about viruses or even fungus infections.
A good way to determine if it's a viral or bacterial infection is funnily by taking a closer look at your snot: clear and transparent indicates virus, green or yellowish indicates bacteria.
Nevertheless I agree with gcgallant - hope you'll finally feel better! ๐
Ah, thank you. I always get that mixed up. The doc on the phone did mention "secondary thingy".
TMI
My snot is dark yellowish. That's very good to know, though. Bacterial doesn't sound as contagious as viral, but I might be wrong about that aspect of it.
I'm cognizant of antibiotic resistant bacteria and feel like I did my due diligence by waiting so frickin' long. I have some important work and travel stuff coming up immediately, so it was time to kick this thing if possible.
There's unfortunately no clear distinction if bacteria or viruses are more contagious. There are some rather harmless viruses like rhinovirus - it causes a runny nose or in the worst case a common cold. Then there's stuff like Influenza or the Delta variant of Covid: very contagious and very lethal for vulnerable groups. Bacteria can vary from pretty mild to very harsh ones like MRSA.
You definitely did your due diligence by waiting so long and honestly, I really feel bad for you. Sounds like it's mostly bacterial or at least a lot of inflammation going on. I guess the doc suspects a superinfection - where bacteria lay on top of a viral infection, causing it to be a very drawn out affair (or in some cases deadly) like often seen with pneumonia. Hope you'll get well soon! ๐
