For some reason the post cut off part of the full image.

Taken from https://fedidb.org/

Not necessarily a bad thing. A lot of new users to the fediverse.

Instead of trying to fork, maybe we try and go the Gotosocial way and make a MVP smol version. Something that can house 10 or so users. People can spin up whatever they want.

Honestly what I wouldnt give for a reddit theme on mastodon that uses their hashtags as the communities themselves. That would be cool in my opinion.

SDF is pretty rad.

Well peertube -> mastodon -> lemmy didnt work as well as I wanted it to. Oh well.

piefed does not seem to have the same issue but its pulling directly from the instance: https://piefed.social/post/398575

Just coming up with bug reports..and dog images/videos. Best of both worlds.

Enjoy some more sleepy dog.

Looks like it worked! This is both a test and a post :).

Interesting though that GoToSocial is having issues with Lemmy(?) Not sure what that is about. Base Mastodon works well though.

Yeah it's all community based. And like Debian super stable. But the issue with that is updates take a very long time.

Im going to try and limit 1 post a day at most, but I have a ton of these videos we have been sharing with the family that I thought others would like to see. Im not sure how to do a direct link from peertube to lemmy.

Hes a very good boy and has lots of energy!

What version are you running? Im currently running 0.18.2 (mostly because thats what yunohost supports).

Right now, im using a single instance lemmy on my own servers. I have a couple of issues with it that im not quite sure what to do with:

  1. It seems to make a LOT of calls to other servers. Its almost constantly pinging other servers asking for updates.
  2. It gets de-federated almost instantly from popular instances. Which kinda sucks.
  3. It uses up quite a bit of CPU compared to other federated applications.
  4. Subscribing to instances seems to work most of the time, but sometimes it just errors out and I have to re-do it.

Im pretty sure if I update my version to the newest version of lemmy I may get around 2/4 but even when I used a fairly new dockerized version of lemmy, it seemed like it was calling a LOT of servers/using a lot of CPU for something I would like to have it update maybe once an hour or so.

Essentially im looking for something like GoToSocial is to Mastodon but for lemmy. Hope that makes sense.

Is there anything like that out there? Piefed maybe?

PopOS or Mint are probably the best for new users.

Cant you see everything via the modlist + API? I thought that was one of the benefits of Lemmy is that the modlist is open. I have seen people down-voted for specific comments but not banned.

I haven't had any issues with .world. Ive had more issues with smaller instances banning people/topics. World seems like the most bland or popular of the lemmy instances.
