And the counter argument against contrarians is that it’s not an issue that the monsters are uninspired copies. I mean it’s not like they are the leitmotiv of the game... I guess GameFreak managed to set the bar very low.

I’m reallu happy that people are enjoying the game, especially with GF underdelivering for so long, but to me, the game looks like an asset flip with heavy… inspiration in monster design.

  1. The Witcher series. Around 15 years ago I've picked up Sapkowski's books. I made through one and a half. Can't stand his writing.

  2. Horizon series - I watched my partner play through it and I can't think of a more bland, unimaginative world.

That's a problem with every non-physical storage of data/knowledge - it's ephemeral and can disappear anytime
