RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

I think my wife realized I really was sick when I sat down and watched three episodes of Bridgerton with her

I've been watching Assassination Classroom since I had only seen like the first 4 episodes before now. Just finished season 1 last night.

I wanna predict that the kids will gain the skills necessary to kill Korosensei, but by then they won't want to. But it's all good because there's no way he's gonna destroy the planet.

Talk to Me. Australian horror film focusing on intrusive thoughts and a creepy embalmed hand 🤝

Season two of Interview With The Vampire. It’s a nice interpretation of the source material.

I watched an episode of Better call Saul. I recommend it. Generally anything made by Vince is quite well made.

On a Denzel Washington binge. Watched The Little Things and The Equalizer series.

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

i watched the little things just a couple weeks ago.

good movie.

i kept thinking how weird it was that the creepy guy looked a little like jared leto, but i really didn't accept it was him until i saw the credits.

Still haven't seen any equalizers, how are they?

Denzel Washington is a good actor and that’s the only reason I watched the movies. I like the way he speaks and portrays his characters. As an action/crime drama, it’s mediocre. He’s too old to get physical so he’s scripted as a super spy. Extremely intelligent, he can use tech to track down the bad guys. In hand-to-hand combat, he anticipates every move, parries every punch, hits every pressure point to immobilize the enemy, and never misses a shot. Definitely not Bourne-level fisticuffs. Nevertheless, it’s still a fun watch.

okay, thanks. I'll probably check them out at some point, I also have a big problem with casting older people in action movies.

Shogun season 1. It was really well made.

Heard they were green lit for 2 more seasons. Unfortunately, it seems the first season was based on a book and there's no book to base the next 2 seasons on.

There is history, but I've become very hesitant about shows that outrun their books (ex. GoT). So, hopefully they are the same quality, but not betting on it.

Letterkenny! It's so so funny but so much more than that. Also watching Drag Race All Stars 9 (go Miss Vannnnnnnjie and Channel), and a show called Gannibal.

Just Rewatched Good Omens season 1 and started season 2. I'm only a couple episodes in, so no spoilerinos. David Tennant is just so awesome in everything he does.

Stranger than fiction. It's a movie about someone who can hear the narrator. The main character is Will Ferrell but his character is a lot more serious than you'd expect (it does have a lot of good dry humor though). It's a good watch.
