2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Always make time for a luxury shave while traveling. It is well worth it!

Dec. 7, 2023

  • Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Karve Overlander
  • Blade: UK Tech Statum
  • Lather: Spearhead - Sea Ice Lime - Soap
  • Post Shave: Spearhead - Sea Ice Lime - Aftershave

Good shave. I switched up the razor and hit repeat on the scent. Loving the lime and menthol.

Which razor do you prefer between the CB and the Overlander?

[–] MaplePoplar 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I prefer the Overlander. It’s simple and very efficient. The CB is nice but I chose a shorter handle and slightly more aggressive plates. I feel like a solid B or C plate could be my cinderella setup. It’s expensive to chase perfection in copper though.

I know 😅

Pass-arounds help a lot here.

🎅 Santa's Trickhole 🎅

  • Brush: Dogclaration LG 2022 Mystery Brush (B16)
  • Razor: Böker S.S. Paris Wins
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Spiced
  • Aftershave: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Spiced
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Spiced

I planned my shaves before the Theme Thursday themes for December were posted, so I made up my own. Spiced is my quintessential Santa ("Samichlaus") scent because it smells just like the little jute sacks filled with mandarins and gingerbread we gift on St Nicholas day.

Very nice early morning shave with (Gingerbread-)Spiced and wonderful hardware.

  • Brush: Maggard 24mm SHD Bulb
  • Razor: GEM MM24
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (4)
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Nefertiti - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Balm
  • Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavender, Interrupted - EdP

Switched from the Clog-Pruf to the MM24. Weird. I thought I remembered the Clog-Pruf being smoother, but the MM24 felt so much better. I really don't have enough experience with GEMs to know what the heck is going on, but today's shave wasn't so bad.

[–] djundjila 2 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Do you have the regular Clog-Pruf (or in @merikus@sub.wetshaving.social's preferred spelling: "Kløg-Prüf") or the Peerless?

[–] walden 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

A regular. Gen 1, I've been told.

[–] djundjila 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

The regular is rumoured to be less smooth than the peerless, but I don't feel a real difference

[–] merikus 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Wait there’s different Clog Prufs now? I thought I only had to deal with different OCMMOCs.

[–] djundjila 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Yes, two generations with different guards. You can see the evolution towards the Flying Wing if you squint.

I'll try to remember to take some pictures tonight

The full Micromatic lineup AFAIK:

from right to left, Ockmock gen 1 (no blade bumps), Ockmock gen 2 (blade bumps), Kløg-Prüf gen 1 (13 big teeth), Kłög-Prūf gen 2 "Peerless" (17 small teeth), Flying Wing

SOTD 07.12.2023

  • Prep: head and face wash
  • Razor: Stando Perun
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Le Grand Chypre
  • Post Shave: Thayer's Aloe Vera toner; Pacific Shaving Co. Caffeinated ASB

1 pass shave for both the dome and the face again. Again, a little blood was shed due to bumpy skin - this time behind my right ear. Unfortunately I get bad skin breakouts again this time of the year...

LGC in Omnibus is awesome as always, but I begin to think that the BIC aren't my favourite blades anymore. They rarely work that comfortably in any of my newer razors, so I guess the search for a better blade needs to resume.

First selfie done today, second and third one tomorrow. I actually had tomorrow off, but one of my colleagues/friends got sick and the others would have been massively understaffed. So another early shift tomorrow - who cares, the execs will have to pay me my overtime and leftover vacation time anyways 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–] djundjila 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

pay me my overtime and leftover vacation time anyways 🤷🏻‍♂️

The best part of leaving a job 😊

[–] DaveWave94 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I guess you're right about that. I have about 25 hours of overtime and 8 vacation days, so it won't be much... But a nice boost to my final payment by them 👍🏻

Btw, I will try to get to work on the sample on the weekend but I think it'll take me until next week to ship it. But it'll be done!

[–] djundjila 2 points 11 months ago

Don't worry, I'm not in any hurry and appreciate that you're doing this at all 😊
