The concept of a skip-song button being a privilege you have to pay for is so bizarre to me. I don't understand how people put up with that shit. Arrr

Lack of replay button on mobile was the final straw for me. Limited skips and increasing ads were annoyimg but as someone who functions better when I have a soundtrack for life, not being able to loop a song when I knew I was heading into a signal deadzone and forced to embrace the silence of music-less driving, that was simply too much.

Woah-woah-woah

You can't do that on Spotify anymore? Like at all?

[–] DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

Not on mobile without premium. No loops, only 6 skips in an hour, if I remember correctly and ads every... 3 songs, I think. I've now been using modded Spotify for a while so. It's hard to remember and it's probably got worse since then.

By completely skipping Spotify, and creating your own self-hosted library by buying/pirating the songs. I recommend Jellyfin and Subsonic. Koel is another good option.

That koel is really nice

Funny that from the intro it looks like we should thank apple for their ridiculous SSD pricing ($200 for 256gb is really honest) - the dev ran out of space on their MacBook and so made this webapp to free 40gb.

would also add navidrome to that list

I second this. Navidrome is great and it can be used with any Subsonic-compatible client which makes it even more awesome.

Navidrome is awesome! Been using it for a few months and it just works

Define best. Obviously the answer is to subscribe.

From my experience uBlock Origin worked well, but that was some time ago.

If you don't mind installing a client there are:

Does uBlock allow to skip any song or just disable ads?

And if the answer is yes, how is that even possible? Doesn't that require a membership?

[–] pacjo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

That was a long time ago (beginning of lockdown) but I don't remember having issues with skipping songs. You can just download uBO and try, there's nothing to lose.

[–] ccreamsonn@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

i think uBlock Origin can do that too

I believe the limitation is introduced on the server side to prevent exactly this. You can use this guide to download or stream 320kbps MP3s and even FLACs from Deezer though. It's genuine 320kbps, you can check it using a spectrum analyzer like spek. I used this to build up my collection of high quality music.

I get unlimited skips on Spotify web desktop

For mobile i used to use a cracked version
