Musk has called the Moraes’ decisions regarding X “unconstitutional.”

Who would know more about Brazil's constitution? One of its Supreme Court Judge or Elon Musk?

[–] TacticsConsort@yiffit.net 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Insane how the Republicans made 'unconstitutional' into another meaningless buzzword in order to try and dodge the responsibility for Jan 6th.

[–] protist@mander.xyz 0 points 3 months ago

They had made it into a meaningless buzzword well before that.

[–] MagisterSieran@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 3 months ago

I’m not sure he means Brazil’s constitution.

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Shut up! He singlehandedly invented Tesla, PayPal and SpaceX. He litters the space with most satellites of everybody. He brought freedom of speech back to Twitter and renamed it to a more SEO friendly X. He also supports the greatest president and best white male specimen DT. So let our overlord Musk be.

PayPal was so far ahead of the curve. I've actively avoided using them for a long because of something that happened many years ago. I sense that young people see it as a boomer app.

PayPal could've been the big bank of the Internet and they fucked it up.

That's sarcasm right?.... Right?!

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 0 points 3 months ago

I'm taking this as a sign the Internet is healing that I fully understood this as sarcasm. The last couple of years I wouldn't have been so sure.

Sadly I know a couple people who actually would say something like this with a straight face >.>

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago

Great! Now lets ALL adopt whatever policies that forced this action worldwide!

[–] exocortex@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 3 months ago

Can Brazil rent out that judge to Europe for a Sec?

[–] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Musk has called the Moraes’ decisions regarding X “unconstitutional".

Crazy how a foreign businessman dares making such claims. He really think he is the king of the world

[–] SwordInStone@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

and which constitution exactly is he referencing?

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The imaginary one that says Jesus loves capitalism and the USA best, and everyone can say whatever they want—always.

[–] themurphy@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 months ago

The Jesus and capitalism one is always the one that gets me. In the bible Jesus lost his shit twice, and both were because of capitalism. He hated that shit.

Offices, it (Xitter) will be still available in Brazil.

I hate Musk as much as anyone, but it's a shit decision by Brazil

[–] mearce@programming.dev 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Is it not Musks decision? I thought the situation was more akin to "Your house your rules? I don't like your rules so I'm packing a bag and running away."

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (2 children)

You're defending censoring people who are speaking out against the government. How is that a good thing?

[–] MRLimcon@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

They tried a coup (with the military and the brazilian rural oligarchs), so it's not "censorship", it's enforcing that Brazil is a democratic (even if very flawed) country. The constitution give this right to the supreme court and him (he was the supreme judge for the last election, so dealing with the aftermath of the election is his obligation), so it's a lot more nuanced than you might say.

Edit: If Musk doesn't respect our laws, let him get out of here haha.

[–] Nighed@sffa.community 0 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Is it censorship, or stopping (actual) fake news and lies because Musk fired Twitters moderation team?

(I don't actually know)

[–] MRLimcon@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 months ago

Moraes have a case in his hand (the tried coup last year), because he was the supreeme judge for the elections. He judged that these people tried to help the coup and demanded that their accounts are suspended (entirely cool with the constitution), as musk doesn't want that, they're gone from Brazil and might be blocked countrywide.

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Censoring incorrect information is still censorship

[–] LifeOfChance@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago

This is hands down one of the dumbest things I've ever heard....

[–] Shampiss@sh.itjust.works 0 points 3 months ago

Sure but in this case the judge is not censoring merely incorrect information. It's written in the article that I assume you haven't read

The judge ordered to remove the account of a militant group that attempted a coup after the party they support lost the election

This is exactly the kind of thing that should be censored. Anti democracy groups

[–] Linnce@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago

Earlier this year, Moraes ordered X to block certain accounts, as he investigates so-called “digital militias” that have been accused of spreading fake news and hate messages during the government of far-right former President Jair Bolsonaro.

These people are the equivalent of Trump's cult followers, although I'm not on Twitter myself I am sure they are spreading fake news and any fight against it is a win in my point of view. I myself see these Bolsonaro lovers all the time and it's crazy how they are brainwashed. I know plenty of people who didn't take the COVID vaccine because of him.

You mean twitter (now X)?

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 months ago

thank you very much, bye 🇧🇷🇧🇷

Congratulations to our Brazilian friends here on Lemmy for their most excellent achievement. Bravo and well done.

Meh, only the office closed, the site is still accessible. Here's to hoping the escalation continues and xitter ends fully blocked
