Shitpost obviously, but it annoys me for some reason. Does anyone actually have a clue as to why they did it like that?

Imagine that the flag is attached to a flagpole and the person is carrying it while walking forward, the flag would be flowing out behind them with the blue part at the front no matter which side of the person you were viewing from. In this case, the person is the flagpole.

That is the advancing flag.

The flag has 2 sides, it cant be mirrored. Its to be displayed stars first in the direction of travel when its on a vehicle or clothing.

Traditionally, the "union" (blue part) is on the left side, closest to the heart. Thus, when worn on the right shoulder it's reversed.

That is a way to REMEMBER HOW to wear a flag, not the reason to do so

For the same reason that "TGIF" is a great way to remember Toes Go In First when you're putting on your shoes, but it's not the reason that your toes go in first

But the association with the left side of the body goes farther than just patches. Lapel pins go on the left lapel, and when hung vertically from a wall the union goes to the viewers' left.

And TGIF means "thank god it's Friday" :P

No no no. TGIF is a block of ABC family friendly programming starting at 8pm on Friday nights.

And what did ABC say it stood for?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They said they stood for good family values.......until the guy from step by step was caught beating his girlfriend.
