Why bother?
Uh...because war is horrible?
That's not a reason to get lax, but to remain vigilant while moving towards greater collaboration.
War is horrible. China's actions against our allies, Taiwan & the Philippines make it seem like they are cool with war though, so we need to prepare in kind.
Thus I see no advantage for the USA to further entwine our economy with the CCP.
but war doesn't reach usa soil! so again, why usa should bother? /s
