I can understand that voting blocs within the Democratic coalition want to make sure they aren't taken for granted. But, being locked into a two-party setup, the only effective way to do that is to deny support to their least-worst political option.
This is the consequence of that strategy. This is the alternative to being taken for granted by your nominal allies: Being defenseless in the face of the attacks against you.
