  • Brush: Boti Motherlode knot in laminated wooden handle, 30mm
  • Razor: Blutt Rasur โ€“ BR-1 (0.99 mm gap)
  • Blade: Feather - new Hi-Stainless
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts โ€“ Valley of Ashes
  • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts, Shawn Maher โ€“ Gravefruit II

I'm copying @sahenders@sub.wetshaving.social's SOTD of last Saturday because the scent combo sounded interesting, and also because I liked his SOTD picture (I wasn't alone in that and it became the sub's side bar picture of this week).

VoA is one of the most difficult scents for be to place. u/Jimtasticness used to describe it as clean dirt and that's a good way to put it. There's something about the citrus and tobacco that makes the coal, tar, motor oil, diesel, burning rubber, and smoke nice. Combining it with Gravefruit is fun, because by contrast, mostly the bright grapefruit and yuzu of it come through.

The BR-1 is probably objectively my best DE razor. Super efficient, just enough blade feel to guide you as you find your angle, super gentle. A foolproof design. But it's also no very exciting to use IMO, a bit like the Henson. Not sure what to make of that.

Great setup! The BR-1 is on tap for my second luxury shave today, but I plan to switch out the 0.99 plate for the 0.86 plate. I really enjoy the simplicity and elegance of the design of this razor. I don't see it like a Henson, though I have not used a Henson. My impression is that the Henson is much more restrictive on angle choice between cap and safety bar.

Yeah, this was a setup for a guaranteed great shave. Can't go wrong with any of it.

Did you also get multiple plates with your Blutt? Which ones did you get?

Yes, I have the 0.86mm plate and the 0.99mm plate. I generally only use the 0.99mm plate, but for this month I'm going with milder exposures where possible.

makes sense. I have have the 0.99mm and 1.20mm plate, so it seems we made the same decision.
