I'm still under 10 shaves with an SR, so I'm under no illusion that I'll manage as close a shave (as with my DEs) right away. I'm still getting used to the feel of the razor in my hands. I'm open to advice, so no worries about coming across presumptive.

Thanks! Close shaves and then near-BBS shaves came to me between 20 and 30 shaves. I used SRs in the past, though not as a wetshaver. Going deep into technique with DEs and SEs, knowing how to build good lathers, and knowing how to get a close, comfortable shave, makes a world of difference and helps with SR shaving. Once you are comfortable with a straight razor it is difficult not to go way down that rabbit hole :)
