I got the Merkur Mk34c and shaved a couple of times with it with the Astra Platinum Double Edge Safety Razor Blades. It feels bit to mild to me and not getting close enough compared to the old starter razorock starter safety razor I had got.
Is it an issue of technique or that the Astra doesnβt work as well with the Mk34c? Or should I look for another option?
Didn't expect blades like the Kai and Feather to be so expensive, since I can get Astra 100 for around $8 versus $30ish for a pack of 100 for the rest.
In that case do you have a recommendation for a razer that works better with the astra that is in the price range of the Merkur 34c?
The Merkur 34C is a mild razor - probably milder than most other razors. But one can get good shaves out of it with the right technique. The green Astras are good blades (rather on the sharper side), and should pair well with the Merkur.
Assuming you're a beginner, you may want to get a starter pack of blades and test a bit which blades work for you on which razor.
But yes, it most likely is an issue of technique.
