Tabac Tuesday

  • Brush: Rubberset 400-3 with a 26 mm unbleached Zenith boar knot at 56 mm loft
  • Razor: Ralf Aust 5/8" full hollow, Spanish tip, carbon steel
  • Razor: Ralf Aust 5/8" full hollow, Spanish tip, stainless steel
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
  • Aftershave: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
  • Talc: Pinaud Clubman Finest Powder

The twin Ralf Austs still feel indistinguishable and I can't tell them apart without weighing them.

The replacement knot for my Tabac brush is still in the mail but has reached the European mainland, so this is is hopefully the last Tabac Tuesday without it.

Mine are as well. They feel a bit different on the stones to me, but that's okay, the materials are different. I'm sensitive to this due to the large variety of knife steels I've encountered. If I give each razor the attention it requires to get a proper edge, though, I seem to get the same performance.

I haven't graduated to honing them yet. I should use them more often to justify a refresh. The whole point of this exercise was to push the blades until I fell a difference, and I've been slacking off 😅
