I'm moving from ChromeOS to Manjaro. I want to put the Task Manager on the right edge of the screen, but don't see how to do this. I'm pretty sure this was possible a long time ago.

Running KDE Plasma 5.27.11 and Wayland.

It is so worth it. The best times I've had gaming were with Pandemic Legacy. Have fun!

Season 0 is hard. There were a few months where we only won on the last possible turn (won during my turn when there was only 1 card to draw, so we'd if my turn ended and I had to draw 2 cards)

We haven't played Season 2 yet, but have the box ready. Technically its a present for my wife (shhh! it's a secret). Yes, I know that it won't be as good, and have adjusted expectations accordingly.

My wife and I just finished playing the last month of Pandemic Legacy Season 0. OMG, that was a great ride.

We'd played Season 1 with our son at the start of COVID, which gave us a sense of agency. This version is a prequel that takes place in 1962. You're playing doctors recruited to the CIA. Instead of disease cubes, you're trying to fight off Soviet agents. However, since an outbreak would send disease to neighboring cities, and Soviet agents don't work that way (that we know of), there's a new mechanic for bad stuff that happens instead. Each player has a passport for their character. Each passport has pages for 3 different aliases you can take (Allied, Neutral, and Soviet). You'll need to create and direct teams to complete objectives.

Highly recommended. If you're interested, here's the Shut Up & Sit Down review.

Sounds like it's going to be a legacy game:

During the co-op game for one to four players, the group can experience a narrative-driven campaign that will enable players to explore different storylines and outcomes depending on their choices. As their chosen characters, players can upgrade their unique abilities by spending the experience points they gain, as well as unlock new powers through optional loyalty missions. The group can also improve their various pieces of equipment and weapons as they advance through the campaign.

According to the game’s publisher, Modiphius, the narrative choices made by players will have consequences further down the line, with there being potential for multiple playthroughs resulting in never-before-seen experiences.

Meeple Mountain has a great article on trick taking games. I want to try Sail, as my wife and I love cooperative games.

OK. We played season 1 to have a sense of agency during the pandemic. And yes, I know it's still going on. Stay safe out there.

??? You're on month 4 (April)? There's only 1 year, from January to December. Or am I missing something big? We're going to play March today.

We played Season 1 a few years ago. Our last game led to us winning with only 1 card left in the player deck. Nail-biting. May get 2 later on.

Only in March so far, but things are going well. Almost too well... It's a good twist on the classic. Anyone else played it?

Mildly infuriating? This is revolution level infuriating.

The data is for sale, so you should be able to buy it. Good luck buying only one person's data though.

I'll just leave this here. It's Deteriorata by the National Lampoon.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste,
And remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself,
And heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss, and when.
Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
and despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Remember The Pueblo.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate.
Know yourself.
If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you -
That lemon on your left, for instance.
Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls
Would scarcely get your feet wet.
Fall not in love therefore. It will stick to your face.
Gracefully surrender the things of youth: birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan.
And let not the sands of time get in your lunch.
Hire people with hooks.
For a good time, call 606-4311. Ask for Ken.
Take heart in the bedeepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.
And reflect that whatever fortune may be your lot,
It could only be worse in Milwaukee.

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Therefore, make peace with your god,
Whatever you perceive him to be - hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin.
With all its hopes, dreams, promises, and urban renewal,
The world continues to deteriorate.
Give up!

Just played a good game of Roll for the Galaxy. Usually we end up finishing the game because someone gets 12 developments/worlds, but this time we shifted to producing and shipping. It came down to who got to ship first in the last time (wife had a lower faction number, so she got it). Result was tied on VP. 😀

Just played Regicide for the first time. Damn. That game is vicious!

A great cooperative game played using a standard deck of cards. My wife and I were able to win, but only by cheating like mad: Played with hands face up, and mostly ignoring hand size limit. I realize that's cheating, but we're learning it.

Very fun, but hard. Kind of like Arkham Horror done with a standard deck.

What strategies do you use when playing?

Just played a game of the original Arkham Horror boardgame from 1987. The game started off by giving us 3 gates to deal with. Finished with the doom track one away from "The end of Arkham". Only one Investigator died and needed to be replaced. Introduced 2 new people to this game (both had played more recent versions).

I just installed debian 12 on an old laptop, and it has gnome. I've installed KDE, but when I log in it still pulls up gnome. How do I change it to KDE? Thanks.
