It's a real gift to be able to change what you're dreaming from a nightmare into something pleasant. I wish I had that ability, I have nightmares most nights and have had ever since I was a kid (and am now 65).

On the one hand my nightmares are of such ghastly horrors and grotesque and disgusting - but on the other hand they've given me some great plots to some of my most horrifying stories.

Well best of luck with it and I hope you do get the answers that you need (and that your mom gets off your back!).

If as you suggest the AI in question can feel pain and suffer, of course I would care and not want it to have to experience that. Why would I? I'm not a sadist or a monster, or a Utah legislator without any human feelings.

It's like the scenario, "if you could get away with murdering one person, would you do it?" Of course I wouldn't!!! Whether or not I could get away with it, I still have to live with myself and what I do. And I have a thing called "morality" that I live with and a respect for life that goes beyond my own self-concern.

What do you REALLY want for dinner? Because my cat is so finicky and it's hard to predict what food she'll like, and one day she'll like something and the next turn her nose up at it.

I can't blame you for blocking him. With me, I get annoyed that people keep offering their "suggestions" when I know they are way off the mark.

All you can do is find a way to deal with what you've got, and sometimes it's really just a matter of going off by yourself and shutting out the rest of the world.

Well I didn't mean to add to your weary-ness, trust me. I'm dealing with that myself and am all too aware of how it all wears you down.

Im dragging my ass around lately, totally depleted by this thing and also sleeplessness and a racking cough, among other things. So trust me I get where you're at.

let's hope they can find the right diagnosis that really helps you get better quickly. Good luck with it!!

My cat is my best friend and I get the feeling she sees me as what she is going to become one day - a full grown cat that can walk and talk and drive a car. I don't think she sees me as something to she could or would kill, but as a sibling that one day, she will grow up to be like.

She does imitate some things I do, like sitting up to watch TV with me on the couch or squatting over her litter box like she was sitting on a toilet.

Cats are pretty smart and also quite capable of being very close and loving. They just have to express it on their own terms.

It wasn't really a well-known condition a few decades ago, though i think many veterans suffered from it, they just didn't know what it was. I was diagnosed with PTSD but not from anything war related.

In fact it's mostly from night terrors related to something I experienced as a kid, but not anything to do with my home life. I can't really explain it (and it's better if I don't) but I still deal with it. It started as a kid when I was about eight, and I'm not about to turn 65 and I still cannot sleep in a darkened room or any room with a doorway facing the bed.

I can't explain that, it would be useless to try, and the one person I did expain it to said he was having trauma now also and wished I'd never told him about what was going on. It's like planting a seed, sharing these horrors and that's something I don't want - I just have to deal with it the best I can.

With a mother like that, no wonder you have such neurological problems. Also, there's an article on Kbin today about how morning heaving can come from heavy cannabis usage. So that could be part of the problem.

I have severe gastric pain throughout my GI tract right now that comes and goes in waves, and it's un-diagnosable, but it feels like I swallowed razor blades while also sitting on an unsheathed knife blade - it really does make me crazy with pain.

So I know how frustrating it is when there's nothing they can do or diagnose to help. I don't use cannabis for pain because I can't stand the smell or taste of it and nothing works for pain relief when you're dealing with such horrible symptoms.

Anyway = / as a fellow sufferer, hang in there and tell your mom to go worry about her own life problems. You don't need that additional stress!!!!

The simple mechanic of long division. I was sick from school for a couple days, when I came back they'd already gone past the instruction on long division and simply expected me to do the problems, which I couldn't because I couldn't make any sense out of them.

It was years later when I was practicing on my own that I that had an insight -- OH you have to carry the remainder and re-divide into it to get the answer. Very simple, but no one bothered to explain that to me. They just couldn't understand what i wasn't understanding.

Of course I am completely in favor of assisted suicide. Not necessarily just for terminally ill patients but those who have absolutely zero quality of life and only experience life as a series of horrible painful stressors.

It's every human being's right to choose when to end their own life. And after all, death is just the cracking of the outer shell and release into the world you always wanted to live in - it's a freeing of the spirit within and a necessary part of one's life cycle.

There's always going to be some problem around people changing their mind but, I think most people opting for such a procedure would never change their mind about it. You'd have to have them sign release and total consent forms, and I can already see this thing getting balled up in wads of red tape that will make it virtually impossible to carry out.

What about the content generators who earn their living from Tik Tok? Banning it is not the solution to fixing the problems with it.
