He says his son was eventually issued the passport and the family’s vacation is still on.

Sounds to me like someone so the passport office was just being an idiot and when their supervisor looked into it it was resolved.

I don't get it. ~~If you're an immigrant who's already made it to the EU,~~ why would you want to go to England in the first place?

As a Brit, that's better.

Jokes aside, here's a couple of reasons I can think off the top of my head.

  1. English is really common for people to speak as a second language. More likely to be drawn to a country where they have some chance of being able to communicate.

  2. they may have friends or family already here (maybe who've chosen the UK due to point 1). People are far more likely to go somewhere where they already know people.

Apparently this shift in strategy worked, since the company is still here.

$3,000,000,000,000 understatement.

Why would you use Google photos as your gallery if you're not using the backup feature? It's like the only reason to use it over a different gallery.

Ent and lower decks often get skipped, everything else occasionally.

Prodigy, never. That theme is up there with Voy and DS9.

Star Trek Prodigy.

And it's bloody brilliant.

Yeah, same as Alphabet. Neither of these renamed their key product either. Just put a new company on top.

Milk bottles are still imperial sized, but funnily I more often hear people say "big milk" '& "small milk" rather than pints.

It's actually a real mix. Actually look at the milk you buy, some shops will do half litre, litre etc bottles some will do pint, 2 pint bottles. I'm pretty sure they'll be priced the same. Clever little bit of shrinkflation where 0.5 litres is 68ml smaller.

I'm 38 and I use stone because that's what I was taught as a kid. Metric for all other weights though.
