No, marriage to a U.S. citizen does not automatically make someone a U.S. citizen. Marriage to a U.S. citizen makes the spouse eligible for U.S. lawful permanent residence through a process with a lot of paperwork and waiting. After 3 years of lawful permanent residence they become eligible for citizenship if the couple remains married.
