Happy cake day! I just also recently had mine. There must be dozens of us who joined this time last year. Unfortunately RiF never became a Lemmy client but Connect for Lemmy is good.

The idea I had was just so ridiculously evil I just had to teil about it πŸ˜„

If you think about it the rock and tape hack can be easily prevented, but I'm not going to elaborate any further as to not give them more ideas.

So even if someone came up with a system whereby they expected you to watch an ad before the power would flow, you could always just plug in and walk away. How are they going to know you’re physically there?

How about a button located near the ad screen and speaker that you have to hold like at least 80% of ad duration. If you failed to reach 80% it would reset to 0 and show you another ad so you can try again.

I played it occasionally but, as you said, it wasn't very interesting game for young children. I guess it was interesting only subconsciously (the vivid dreams I mentioned in the other comment). Maybe it would have been fun game if I were an adult at the time.

We didn't really have arcade in our town but there were some coin-operated games around. I think it wasn't very long period of time they had Polybius but I remember playing it occasionally during that time. I was quite young so I didn't fully understand the gameplay and can't really recall any elements of it anymore. Only thing I do remember is I used to have vivid dreams about it when I hadn't played it for a while. That sort of made me interested to play it again every once in a while. Though I must have been terrible at that game so I don't know why I even tried it that many times.

I didn't really thought about it when they had changed the machine to different one. I would rather play the Street Fighter II or whatever they had put there instead because it was much easier game to understand. There have been occasional dreams I've had much later in my life about this game but other than that I don't really think about it. Sometimes after having that kind of vivid dream I do think for a while that it would be nice to give it a try again but I don't know if they have the game anywhere or if it's possible to emulate via MAME.

What difference does the federation make in this case? Either way the personal data is in someone else's computer.

I like the thought of American drinking condensed water from fridge. Maybe they have some AC water too every now and then.

I don't think there needs to be scale as the tag serves as an initial protection and should cover everything that's NSFW. The viewer can see themselves whether it's artistic nudity or pornography but the moment the post first comes up on their screen the tag ensures they and people around them don't see it at that instant.

I don't really post anything NSFW but I think it's pretty simple criterion. Tag as NSFW if you wouldn't like your boss see you looking at that post on your coffee break.

But of course you can't really trust everyone to tag their posts properly and there are occasional spammers who leave the tag out on purpose. Also the app I use has bug in settings implementation so I don't even use the NSFW filter anymore. That's the reality in Lemmy. Just have to live with it.

But does it mean the 15% is non-standard or just not implemented at all? If it's not implemented then all of the implementation is 100% standard compliant and if everyone stopped relying on the 15% part then developing for Firefox should make it compatible for rest of the browsers.

Although Linux is just used to run superior OS in VM. Same as using Internet Explorer to download Firefox.

On the positive note that gives you an opportunity to learn new languages. Maybe you understand one word in a meme post and that's enough to understand it. Maybe you look up what does it say in the post if you find it interesting. Not really an effective way to learn in itself but a way to expose yourself to foreign languages.

Which things do you find boring and restrictive about it? I think it's rather nice although I don't like some of the changes after Catalina like moving from skeuomorphic icons to more symbolic ones.

Other than aesthetics I think editing and writing is fast on macOS even when not using vim. I even changed my PCs to use mac keyboard layout because it's better. Of course when using vim, editing should work same on any system at least in theory.

Half man, half bear and half pig obviously.

Has anyone been playing Devil World (NES) on Switch now that it became available? I hadn't played this before but now that I tried it I think it's one of the best of those old NES titles. Very interesting game mechanics, kind of like Clu Clu Land in the sense that it's sort of Pacman clone with an interesting concept. In this game you move in a maze and Satan tries to kill you by crushing you between walls. He does that by making his minions move the maze in all four cardinal directions.

The game can be hard sometimes but so far I have reached to round 8. However, as I have been playing it quite a bit, I've noticed it has started to mess with my brain. Let's say I'm scrolling through some social media app. Then out of nowhere as the text on the screen is scrolling my brain starts to add those Devil World movements to the scrolling text I'm looking at. So for a moment that short vision makes me think "Oh shit! Quick! I gotta move out of the way!". Kinda spooky. Could it be a cursed game? :)
