I wanted kids when I was younger, but wasn't ready to give up my freedom. Once I was ready for kids the world (and the future in particular) looks so bleak that it doesn't seem fair to the theoretical kiddo to say 'hey, here's a dumpster fire - good luck'. Instead I babysit for my friends and family, spoil the kids around me, and sleep in on the weekend. I also have more time for activism and trying to ensure a brighter future for kiddos.

No regrets.

Information is limited - and likely to remain that way given the recalcitrance of police when it comes to their own.

Right now all of the news outlets are running the same wire service article, but hopefully a journalist digs in farther.

There's a difference between defending oneself and engaging in collective punishment and genocide. I am Jewish and the descendent of holocaust survivors. Not in my name.

How did I not think of that?

She's discovered that she can get 'mom time' by jumping up on the desk we have in the room because oh man, do they never let her rest otherwise.

We just took in a rescue litter from the shelter. Everyone has colds, and mom is pretty battle-worn (limping, lost a chunk of her ear to frostbite over the winter). Everyone is getting medical support and once they are old enough, we'll find these teeny terrors forever homes!

Right now, despite being 'ferral', Mom likes to curl up next to me while she nurses - it's pretty heart melting.

Yep - I identify as male, but I put he/they in my email signature because I a) want to signal active support for the trans community and b) don't really think about my own gender much and kind of like de-gendering my language wherever possible.

Totally agree.

Moderating models for safety is a problematic idea. Prusa then bears liability in the event that a model fails. 3D printing works only because it's the person who physically makes the print who has the ultimate responsibility to determine if it is safe and fit for purpose.

If you don't like the competitions, don't take part. Personally I view them as a nice way to encourage the community to share ideas.

That's a great, useful print. I'm firing up the printer as I type this!

This reads like a train wreck start to finish.

Yep - I made the model.

I'm going to dig through the slicer file and see if there's anything wonky with the number of perimeters.

No infill, solid walls

Just printed this plant pot and the quality is absolutely trash. It's a large print (150mmx150mmx150mm) but printed using my normal settings. It's solid wall - 4-5 perimeters thick. Sliced in Prusaslicer 2.6.1 and printed on an Ankermake M5. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm reading The Last Emperox by John Scalzi. The series has some interesting concepts but while I really enjoyed Scalzi's sense of humour in the Old Man's War series, it doesn't land quite as consistently for me here. Regardless, it's definitely a fun read.

I think some people use a vacuum chamber and epoxy to stabilize the wood. I also wonder if soaking the biscuits in a mineral oil bath for a few days might do the trick? Personally I've never had much luck with larger pieces.
