Recent iphone models have “easily” removable back glass, and it’s actually the main entrypoint for replacing the battery, lowering costs due lower risk of a broken screen (see new google pixels with screens that almost always break on removal)

After this, apple also lowered the cost of most repairs, including on models that don’t get the new replaceable back. the non applecare cost for a battery replacement ranges from 80-100 dollars roughly. which is comparable to the cost of a replacement with even a generic battery from a 3rd party shop.

obviously, because absolutely nobody buys the equivalent products already sold by google and amazon

the play services are not installed by default*

just so everyone is aware grapheneos only support's pixels because it is specifically designed for taking advantage of the hardware security features found in google's tensor and titan chips. and thus installing it on another phone would kinda miss the point (and vastly increase the scope of the project)

google is also basically the best company when it comes to phones for custom roms, as they provide stock images, a simple bootloader unlocking process (that doesn't void your warranty as far as i can tell), and generally the aosp and software support that comes from being the phone of the developer of android.

Well yes obviously but it does serve a purpose as a maintained fork, that's why I included that. I expect a normal fork will be made soon because of this news.

The readme states:

"This repo also serves as an updated version of the original neofetch since the upstream dylanaraps/neofetch doesn't seem to be maintained anymore (as of Oct 27, 2023, the original repo hasn't merged a pull request for almost 2 years). If you only want to use the updated neofetch without pride flags, you can use the neofetch script from this repo. To prevent command name conflict, I call it neowofetch :)"

Obsidian is not open source.

chromebook's are incredibly easy to manage from an I.T. perspective, and they are cheap to replace and repair. that's why they are popular

But it doesn't...

Neither phones "crush" the iPhone 15 pro.

Comparing a companies budget phone to another companies newer halo phone is just an unreasonable comparision. The iPhone 15 pro also has many features that the pixel doesn't.

For 429 dollars you could get an Apple refurbished iphone 12 mini (so same warranties and stuff as a new phone), which has a more powerful cpu, higher storage options if wanted, a brighter display, face id, etc. Obviously, you also lose features. But the reality is, its not some simple one side is good value and the other is overpriced garbage.

oem authorized repair also applies to apple, and with almost all the same caveats

what is a "normal phone" to you, apple has over 50% marketshare in both the US and UK. iphones are, by definition, "normal phones".

the days of iphones being the expensive/overpriced option are over, with 1200+ android flagships being common
