Outer Wilds

The concern isn't equality, it's moreso equity. Historically, minorities have suffered systemic efforts that have limited their ability to pursue higher education for a variety of socio-economic reasons. Despite many of those systemic efforts having been thwarted with time, many minority populations' socio-economic status as a whole still suffers when compared to those of White populations.

These minority populations unquestionably have fewer opportunities (in a multitude of ways) to pursue higher education, and so Affirmative Action helps to destroy some of those barriers and help provide an equitable way to facilitate this -- to help level the playing field that's been dominated by White populations for as long as the country has existed.

Is it a perfect solution? No. Do deserving applicants who would otherwise have been accepted maybe not get their top choice? Yes. But on a population scale, this was probably a good thing. Now we're back to "equality" which for the past however many years didn't exist, and the people who were lower before, continue to suffer the consequences.

Amazing, thanks very much for sharing this. Admittedly I was referring to the Berlin interpretation of a roguelike, so I very much appreciate such an extensive breakdown of some of your recommendations. Haven't heard of a handful of these, will be checking them out with time!

Maybe not the best book I've ever read, but favourite for sure goes to Kafka on the Shore. Had me hooked the entire way through, and it's a book I've thought of for years after reading it initially.

If I can pick another, Siddhartha is an all-time favourite too.

Awesome, yeah heavy, but not too much like a cast iron then. Thanks for clarifying! Probably going to go head with one of these. Would you consider a smaller size or are you especially happy with the 12inch?

Getting into DCSS a lot recently. Still just running Minotaur Berserker with the furthest I've made it being the 10th floor aha.

Regardless, really enjoying it and wondering if others have any other recommendations. I tried ToME4 and just felt overwhelmed and wasn't enjoying myself too much.

Have my eyes of Caves of Qud as well. Love the more "literary" aspect to it (even though I know it's often nonsense), and the atmosphere/setting. Seems to be highly regarded overall though. Wondering if I should buy it and play alongside DCSS.

Seeing this pop up multiple times is drawing me to it. May just go ahead and pull the trigger on this! Any preference on size on your end? I'm looking at the 10in one.

Searching around it seems America's Test Kitchen recommends this as well. If you had to compare to a cast iron skillet, I imagine still much lighter than that right?

Hey folks, I'm in the market for a good carbon steel skillet. I recognize there's all kinds of options, but curious to hear people's experiences with some bang-for-your-buck picks especially.

Specifically I was looking at OXO's carbon steel pan. If anyone has any thoughts, would appreciate them!

Can almost never agree with the exact numbering, but still a great collection of amazing games. Some I wouldn't include, but opinions are opinions.

Great thread, thanks all for sharing.

I personally use Tea for Turmeric quite a bit for Pakistani/South Asian cooking!

Unique in that it spawned its own kind of genre, but in broad strokes they're turn based strategy games.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is the most popular, and consensus is that after the 5th game, things went downhill significantly, so I wouldn't pay much mind to the ones after that.

Given the popularity of HoMM3, you can find tons of videos online going over its core mechanics, so if youre interested, it's easy to get a better understanding.

They're extremely fun and addicting games. A certain charm to it as well, especially with the third game.

Looks fantastic, makes me want to try out the other armored core games. Will have to figure out a way to get em all on the steam deck.

Newly following football, any suggestions on where best to keep up to date with upcoming matches? Not following any one team, but friends are interested in Arsenal, Liverpool, and Dortmund, so I suppose I have a bit more tug towards them. Happy to just watch matches though.
