I have a theory about this.

Of course, the GOP lies about everything all the time. But this specific strategy of using a silly meme seems to be a weak attempt to copy the memes about Vance and couches. That started from an obvious shitpost but ended up having some real legs because Vance and Trump are so fucking weird and it’s a shorthand for that.

A meme about immigrants eating cats is punching down and isn’t shorthand for anything except to signal that the person spreading it is racist.

He just wants to run the whole country again. You probably don’t need any reading comprehension or be able to take responsibility for your own actions for that job.

Obviously.

All the major networks covered this live. None of them covered the Harris rally that happened right after. Some did fact checking afterward. That’s after most people stop watching.

The reporters often asked useless softball questions, like asking him to comment about his upcoming interview with Musk.

When there was a serious question, he simply didn’t answer. There was one about abortion and he said he would answer later. There was one about whether an an abortion drug should be banned. He gave a rambling response that seemed to be about something else.

Compare this to a typical Biden press conference where the reporters are rude and yell out questions and push back and tell Biden that he isn’t answering the question.

The press is afraid of Trump and complicit with his criminal behavior and complicit in the ignorance of the voters.

I think it’s on Tubi which is free and young people can figure it out. But they won’t stumble upon it like you said

I remember watching some bewitched reruns and they only had a few plots.

  • Husband doesn’t want wife to use witchcraft ever
  • Husband wants to be the breadwinner and doesn’t want any magical help with his career. By the way his job is in advertising which is useless and stupid so why would he care?
  • Wife’s in laws hate husband and make problems for him using magic in some way
  • Nosey neighbor keeps seeing strange things but nobody believes her

It’s a comedy so nobody ever thinks to use magic in a way to help society or something, so that’s ok. But it’s very noticeable how mundane the plots are. Also I think there were a few other old shows where the characters were in the advertising business or television business. I bet this was done to pander to the people who were paying for the show.
