”the Siberia of television news"

That’s an apt description of the timeslot. For example MSNBC doesn’t even bother with midnight programming, they just start rebroadcasting their primetime lineup. Acosta would’ve been going up against a rebroadcast of All In with Chris Hayes.

Even Brian Williams got a 10pm weekly show on NBC after he was ousted from the main NBC News desk and he was actually ethically disgraced. This was an obvious insulting move meant to push Jim Acosta out the door to placate Trump.

CNN says its decision to move Acosta out of the daylight and into a time slot to begin at midnight Eastern time had nothing to do with politics.

Uh huh… it’s just a crazy coincidence that CNN happened to decide to hide their chief domestic correspondent in a midnight timeslot a week after Trump retakes office. It’s not a cowardly act of political subservience at all!

No way. Those look like full sized slices, if this were actually a work related pizza party they would’ve gone and sliced everything in half so they could get away with ordering half as much pizza. Oh and they get breadsticks and those delicious orange peanut butter crackers too?! If anything prison sounds like a step up.

Octopus. It’s a water animal.

You don’t get to decide how other people feel and respond to the issue.

It seems like a good alternative but I honestly haven’t used it enough over the last two weeks to feel comfortable recommending it to people yet. Sorry I can’t be more helpful, but there’s a free tier so there’s no downside in giving Tuta a shot for a bit.

Yep, I moved to tuta the day Andy decided to out himself as a MAGA dipshit. The only way I’d go back is if he resigns or gets forced out. At the absolute minimum Andy Yen has shown extremely poor judgement in claiming Republicans are the party concerned with people’s digital rights. That tells me he fundamentally does not know what he’s talking about, and I do not trust Proton under his leadership anymore.

As a side note, If anyone’s looking for a VPN alternative, I highly recommend Mullvad.

Excellent news! This has been the one pain point I’ve had with Alexandrite. It was never a dealbreaker or anything but I’m glad to have the option now!

now he's having to become a sci-fi author to keep the con cooking.

Dude thinks he’s Asimov but anyone paying attention can see he’s just an L Ron Hubbard.

Good for him. He'll never have my forgiveness, but I appreciate that he understands he doesn't deserve it either.

Edit: I don’t forgive traitors. Some things are unforgivable and 1/6 is one of them. I owe these traitors nothing and they’ll receive exactly that. I hope they live with the shame of their actions for the rest of their lives.

A prominent Ugandan opposition politician was kidnapped during a book launch in Kenya over the weekend, transferred to Uganda and is being held at a military jail in Kampala, his wife said on Wednesday.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's government has been accused of repeated human rights abuses against opposition leaders and supporters, including illegal detentions, torture and extra-judicial killings.

The trees were among 250 planted in mid-October by an army of young arborists, paid by Tree Trust for their efforts.

“We spent more than, I’m pretty sure, more than a week on that road,” explains Malick Jenke, among a half-dozen high school grads taking part in Tree Trust’s ‘Branches’ program.

The group of tree planters includes 25 high school students from St. Paul and the ‘Branches’ participants — most of whom are interested in pursuing a green career.

“One tree will take anywhere from a half hour to 45 minutes to get it completely planted, mulched and watered. In some cases, we have to stake those trees as well,” Zumach says.

She notes the value of the destroyed trees adds up to about $12,000, but the City of St. Paul says with labor and other expenses, the costs of the vandalism totals about $40,000.

A spokesperson says replanting the trees is a priority but noted planting season is pretty much at an end.
