Good to hear you’re better, but it seems weird that your symptoms weren’t caught earlier. Even a very simple questionnaire like the MADRS has explicit sadness as only one dimension. You would have been asked for lack of initiative/procrastination, stress/anxiety and negative self-talk. Sounds like someone didn’t do their job properly (unless you hid your symptoms from your family doctor or didn’t go, of course).

Fluid ounces on an Italian made moka pot?

[–] Tsunominohataraki 2 points 1 year ago

When I just looked, similarweb had the data for June and they showed a drop in visits of 3.36% and a drop in rank. So something happened - but not much. And that may only reflect the temporary blackout in some subs.

“Breaking in” a stainless steel moka pot? What would that do?

Thats sweet. I’m old school (and hoary), I met my wife on IRC.

As a resident of Scandinavia I knew it was a myth, but I had to look up a source:

I perfectly understand the concern. I actually did put a vintage razor through an autoclave once - the Lady Gillette I gave to my wife, so she could rest assured it was safe to use. But that was massive overkill and the psychological point was mostly in the sterilisation pouch as gift wrapping.

Physician here. Sterilise in the strict sense you can’t without an autoclave, but that won’t be necessary. The professional method for disinfecting razors would be a bath in Barbicide, but a good scrubbing with a non abrasive bathroom cleaner and a toothbrush should already take away most bacteria and their hideouts. A few consecutive dips in 75% alcohol after that take away moisture and kill the rest. The razor still won’t be sterile, but it should be good enough.

I get the impression that many instances experience lag, probably because of the sudden influx of Reddit refugees. Multiple postings seem to be common as clients make multiple attempts without getting a timely answer from the server. Perhaps the bot has the same problem?

I hope you’re right about Lemmy, but I know you’re right about Facebook. I’d delete my account there in a heartbeat if it weren’t for the embarrassing fact that a lot of communication with colleagues is happening in FB groups and on messenger - I’m probably the age of your parents.

The best thing we can do is to contribute content here.

Where’s the admin?

[–] Tsunominohataraki 2 points 1 year ago

Well, I just arrived and have to confess that I’m still a bit disoriented in the fediverse. I was a longtime Apollo user and while the demise of that app isn’t the end of the world for me, I simply won’t use the official app. I still follow a few subs on RES, but who uses social media on a laptop anymore? In the long run, I’ll most probably pull out of Reddit. I just installed wefwef and appreciate the obvious effort to copy the (indeed very good) Apollo user interface - from what I hear, other apps are doing the same.

The bot here is indeed a major drawback and I think we would be better off without it until it works properly. Right now there’s too much structure for too little content. At least someone should weed out the superfluous copies.

Otherwise, we may as well start to contribute content.
