  • Lather: Catie’s Bubbles – A Midnight Dreary
  • Post Shave: English Leather – Timberland

Thanks to /u/TheStallionPartThree for the smoosh. I didn’t smell much fragrance, but the soap was good. I’m not a fan of the Premium base. It makes an airy lather. I don’t own any tubs of the standard luxury base, but it’s decent. I do wish there was some secondary slickness. However, it is easy to use.

This shave last night was about five days growth. The power went out while I was lathering my face. I shaved my phone flashlight propped up reflecting off the mirror.

I've smelled Limes and Almond. If you like simple scents, they're fine. I prefer more complex fragrance compositions.

I got a trifecta of Presto, a SSL edt, and an Indian Leather Timberland AS for my birthday.

I have a couple of samples. The performance is fine, but not impressive.

How does it compare to slapping oneself in the face?

I've attempted two shaves with a straight razor. They didn't go well. I had trouble getting it to cut. I don't think my razor is sharp enough. I found it tricky to grasp the tang. The scales get in the way. And, the width of the blade makes it tough to match to the contours of my face and use in areas that require fine control.

I felt more confident going into this. I know what AC blades are like. I've used them in a RazoRock Hawk V2. I watched a bit of someone shaving with a shavette on YouTube, beforehand. Compared to the straight razor, it's smaller, more nimble, easier to grasp, the blade is narrower, and I was working with a sharp blade this time. I found the angle easily and the blade did the work. It did feel intuitive. I'm curious to see how much of a difference non-guarded blades would make.

I include the shave being posted. I don't think of it as the state of things going into the shave. Rather, add the suffix the number: "this the n^th use of this blade." The blade is the only item that includes this metric in SOTD, and it's not a consistent metric, anyways. You might shave daily and do two passes, while I might wait several days between shaves and do three passes. I shave my face. Some wear facial hair and only partially shave their faces. Some shave their heads. The amount of wear between users isn't consistent. But, the standard format includes it. Otherwise I wouldn't keep track. I'm more interested to know how many times I've used a boar brush, or a soap.

This was my first time using a Shavette. It went fairly well. I like the AC blade format. It's more rigid than an injector, but less bulky than a GEM. It was awkward trying to figure out how to hold the razor and which hand to use to shave in different directions in certain spots, particularly my neck. I also have trouble knowing where the blade is going to line up when shaving my sideburns near my ears. I did 2 1/2 passes. A socially acceptable shave is good enough for a first time.

I'm alright. I'm Joined on a bunch of subs, but only visit a handful regularly throughout the day. It'll be good to branch out from reddit. I spend too much time mindlessly scrolling there.

I was thinking about it, but now you've scared me. I'm worried about messing up the edge. So, I was thinking the first shave should be the one that counts for the challenge. To be clear, I'm somewhat scared of both of them.
