Yeah, I don't like Linus all that much but I do enjoy LTT's content overall. He tends to drastically and publicly overreact to literally any criticism, and then the rest of the team gets involved and he walks it back. Whether they legitimately change his mind or just convince him he's gotta look like he's changed his mind I have no clue.

My favorite instances of Linus are when he's an absolute idiot on the WAN show and we just get to see Luke's reaction live. The hard-r thing was absolutely hilarious.

In 2022 he tweeted this.

That might be what you're remembering, but he's definitely addressed his views on piracy during the WAN show several times as well.

Edit: someone else posted the full context elsewhere in the thread. I'd link to that comment, but idk how on lemmy so here: https://archive.ph/VavFc

No. The owner of the media has already been paid in both of those scenarios. It makes zero difference to them whether you're watching the ads.

Adblocking, on the other hand, is actively hurting the owner of the media because they get paid based on how many ads they can serve. If you block the ad, it isn't served, and they don't get paid.

Personally, I definitely think it's piracy. I also still do it.

I also found that weird juxtaposition interesting.

Ingame, he's totally chill and reasonable. Outside the game he's.. a fuckin nazi? Huh?

Same lmao. Sent me back in time a little bit. I have a sudden urge to play Runescape.

Oh I love that dude! "Nice hiss. Let's get this out onto a tray." He will dead ass stop mid chew like, "yeah that's foul." Then go back for another bite.

The issue with the biscuits is that the can is very very rusty in some spots. The biscuits aren't the failure point the can is lol.

I have a big thing of "biscuits" from a cold war fallout shelter. Government one, I remember that much. I gotta go find that thing sometime.

I thought about cracking it open and trying a biscuit, but honestly it was in pretty rough shape. I kinda doubted the biscuits would be edible, and if that was the case I would have just ruined the can further for nothing.

It literally uses and links the image for 'thin red line for nurses': https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod%C3%A8le:D%C3%A9but_Rue_Juda%C3%AFque#/media/Fichier:Thin_Red_Line_for_Nurses_Flag.svg) as part of the map's legend.

I don't think it's meant to be anything even remotely political or even intentional I just think it's amusing. I have no idea what OP's take on it is.

I also think a Finnish first aid course accidentally linking something related to the KKK would be incredibly funny. "Oh, right I forgot what the three Ks stand for. Thankfully they have this helpful link to jog my mem- uhhh..."

Well, yeah. I'd argue that's better than people with certain names being consistently affected.

Didn't they also used to make paint out of them? 'Mummy Brown' was a popular thing or smthn.

The only major thing this infographic leaves out is the differences in subsonic vs supersonic ammo.

If you're firing supersonic ammo you're going to get the 'crack' of the round breaking the sound barrier no matter what, and it's always going to be somewhere in the vicinity of loud as fuck.

If you fire subsonic ammo it's not going to be incredibly quieter.. until you combine that with a suppressor, at which point the loudest part of the firearm can actually be the cycling of the action- the US actually requested a .45 suppressed pistol for SOCOM that could have the slide 'locked' which basically made it a single shot that was basically silent. iirc that got scrapped because the gun having to sit there static and absorb the force absolutely mangled it over time.
