One popular answer is that sometimes people just experience things that they find scientific answers to not be able to answer adequately. We as a species are still far from knowing everything.

I'm a spiritually-inclined person. Also think it's totally legit to be atheist. You'd think that actively wanting diversity of belief would be reasonable, but evidently a lot of people just want uniformity and cultural erasure.

Looking forward to getting a Pinetime. It might not be polished, but community support never truly ends.

Here are more details (and more context is in the article):

"Someone had tipped off the foundation on something that disqualified Climax, Good Food Foundation Executive Director Sarah Weiner told the Washington Post. The complaint potentially arose from Climax’s use of the ingredient kokum butter, which has not been designated as GRAS (generally regarded as safe) by the Food and Drug Administration. However, Zahn told the Washington Post that the company has replaced the ingredient with cocoa butter, which was the version he said he submitted for the awards (although Weiner contests this).

The Good Food Awards also didn’t require GRAS certification for all ingredients back when contestants submitted their products — rather, the foundation added this to the rules later on. Zahn claims the Good Food Foundation never reached out to Climax to inform the company of the new requirement, although Weiner told the Washington Post it attempted to. SFGATE could not reach the Good Food Foundation for comment in time for publication.

“It would have been very easy for them to reach out to us and tell us about the new requirements,” Zahn told SFGATE. “… The thing that’s upsetting to me is that they were kind of unprofessional by changing the rules a week before the event.”"

Is there any difference? Would killing and carving up the body parts of a dinosaur for your sensory pleasure be any less cruel if it happened in the dinosaur's own time?

Yeah but the aesthetic!

PGP/GPG. I would like to see the web of trust take off. Also I love the aesthetic for anything that's been signed, and would like to see blog posts everywhere be nested by long blocks of random symbols.

Beans (usually black beans, but I've been looking more into other varieties lately), lentils, peas, soy curls, tofu, tempeh, tvp, rice, oat groats, barley, quinoa, bulgur, amaranth, other grains I can't remember at the moment, and seitan: wherever most people would use mutilated body parts.

And? You've already demonstrated that you're a psychopath (and probably have heart disease and diabetes as well). Are you so weak that you need to murder defenseless animals to feel good about yourself? How about you take a screenshot of this exchange for posterity. Maybe someday if you ever have the benefit of a moment of clarity, you can look back at it and cringe at yourself.

Other than that, fuck off. Psychopath.

I am just going to respond to all of your other messages here, because it's the same answer: it is not my job to educate you. YOU are the one who is continuing to live in a way that's morally repugnant. What you are doing is directly supporting a system that is routinely putting billions of lives through a real life hell - their entire existence is suffering - only to be butchered at the equivalent of an adolescent or juvenile age. What you are consuming is the traumatized remains of beings who were basically children, who were confined as part of a perpetual holocaust that's being conducted at an unprecedented scale. They committed no crimes. They are completely innocent. And you abuse them anyway, and mock the few people who try to undo this injustice.

That's not even getting into the devastating health effects of consuming animals, or the wanton destruction of the environment and greenhouse gas emissions that go with it.

Do you count yourself a leftist, or in any way oppose the fascist republicans? Well the animal ag industry is one of their primary sources of revenue, and meat and dairy consumption is central to the white nationalist identity. Non-vegan leftists are not leftists at all, because you can't even bring justice to your own dinner table, and you are directly paying the fascists every day.

It is YOUR job to get educated, and get right.
