Home laser devices lack the active cooling of the professional laser hair removers. When I tried the Tria system I could not face it at all, but going to the laser clinic was easy and painless in comparison (except for my upper lip, screw upper lips).

I have a lot of grey hair and laser did nothing on that. Electrolysis is bearable with a good lidocaine cream (same stuff you would use for tattoo pains) and I find it fairly relaxing now (except for that upper lip, gosh I hate this beast).

Also: home laser devices tend to be a lot weaker than their professional counterparts. If you can, try go to a professional place. Use Groupon to get deep discounts to make the financial pain go away.

You could try the GenderKit website for a general overview of what options exist. The advice there is a bit UK centric when it comes to doctors and official stuff, but most (western) countries have similar systems in place and at minimum this gives you a starting point.

I found this very helpful when I started my journey 2 years ago.
