This blog post details GLASSBRIDGE—an umbrella group of four different companies that operate networks of inauthentic news sites and newswire services tracked by the Google Threat Intelligence Group (consisting of Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) and Mandiant). Collectively these firms bulk-create and operate hundreds of domains that pose as independent news websites from dozens of countries, but are in fact publishing thematically similar, inauthentic content that emphasizes narratives aligned to the political interests of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Since 2022, Google has blocked more than a thousand GLASSBRIDGE-operated websites from eligibility to appear in Google News features and Google Discover because these sites violated our policies that prohibit deceptive behavior and require editorial transparency.

Real-Debrid, a popular streaming and download service, says it's implementing far-reaching anti-piracy measures, including hash and keyword filters, in response to a notice from the French Federation of Film Distributors. The API and instantAvailability feature are set for deactivation too, while content from "notorious" pirate sites will be blocked.

If the distribution does not have it by default, please include the instructions to use it on the system.

Note: I can't compile the libre kernel from the source.

Efrain Betancourt, Jr., 36, a Colombian citizen, was arrested on Nov. 14, upon entering the United States and charged in South Florida federal court with leading a $66 million Ponzi scheme disguised as a payday loan company, Sky Group USA, LLC (Sky Group).

According to court documents, Elizabeth Gutfahr, 62, who served as Santa Cruz County Treasurer from 2012 through 2024, embezzled and laundered approximately $38 million by wiring funds from Santa Cruz County’s Account directly to accounts in the name of companies that Gutfahr had created for purposes of stealing the county funds. Gutfahr then wired the money from these fraudulent business accounts to her personal account, where she used the money to purchase real estate, pay operating expenses for and renovate her family ranch, pay expenses for her cattle business, and purchase at least 20 vehicles.

Later this month, the United States Justice Department will offer its closing argument in its antitrust case against Google’s advertising technology business. I have a personal interest in this case because I used to be an advertiser. As a marketing executive in the 1990s and into the 2010s, I leveraged changes in consumer behavior to exploit the precision and cost efficiency of digital advertising. But I left my career in marketing after it became clear that digital advertising capabilities were not only oversold but also causing harm by eroding people’s privacy, compounding challenges for publishers, and facilitating the amplification of harmful content. The DOJ’s case exemplifies how significant Google’s role was in creating and sustaining those harms.

I hope that by sharing how this unfolded, I can help convey why everyone – not just advertisers and publishers – has a personal interest in this case.

The role of Azerbaijan as a growing exporter of fossil fuels has forced a debate at this month’s climate conference in Baku over which countries are most responsible for worsening climate change — the producers or the countries that buy and burn those fuels.

According to court records, Ipaye worked with others who infiltrated the email system of a Vermont business to receive emails intended for the company’s president and to send emails masquerading as from the company’s president. This ruse allowed Ipaye’s confederates to misdirect $450,000 intended for the Vermont business to a bank account that Ipaye and his conspirators had established for receiving crime proceeds. Fortunately, fast action by the Vermont business and law enforcement enabled complete recovery of the $450,000.

A former United States Navy Petty Officer First Class who served for more than 20 years in the Navy has been sentenced to eighteen months in federal prison for orchestrating a conspiracy that stole more than $850,000 worth of military gear earmarked for fellow Navy members and then sold the goods to high bidders from more than fifty countries, including China and Russia, announced United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha.

Kyle Benjamin Douglas Calvert, 27, of Irondale, Alabama, was sentenced today to nine years in prison for the malicious use of an explosive device outside of the Alabama Attorney General’s Office in Montgomery.

Let me warn you first, your GPU might cause some issues with the distro.

Based on all the info you told me about the distro you want, I would recommend Opensuse Tumbleweed.

After installing you would just need to install Nvidia drivers and the codecs and you will be ready to go.

If you plan to use flatpacks for your media playing software and browser then you won't need codecs as it's included in the flatpacks.

Just don't forget to configure auto update and when you start installing at the final screen before clicking install make sure that ssh is disabled and selinux is enabled for extra security.

Extra notes:

  • The default browser is firefox, but it can be replaced with any other browser.

  • If you want a working office suite and you don't have high requirements, you can choose between Libre Office, Free office[Prop] or WPS office [Prop].

I hope you enjoy your time on linux.

There is several websites that their owners have put their content in the public domain.

They are very few, but they are amazing.

That + the archive+ public domain torrents.

Surfing in all of that take really long time to find anything valuable, so I was hoping anyone here can recommend me something new.

Great resource, but it's not in the public domain.
