Several new inks and two new pens over the last few days! The Pilot Metro I've had for a couple of weeks now, but had been using the stock black cartridge that came with it while the Diamine Emerald got lost in the mail for a few days. While waiting for the Emerald, I got impatient and bought a three-pack of Diamine Green/Black, Writer's Blood, and Midnight.

I also wanted to try a Japanese fine nib, so I ordered the Pilot Lightive. I'd been getting really curious about Chinese pens as well, and at $11 USD, the HongDian 525 seemed like a great experiment.

First, the inks. All four of them are beautiful, but after seeing the Emerald, the Green/Black seems a little lifeless. Green/Black is still a lovely color and fits in very well with the rest of the trio, but the Emerald is exactly what I was looking for in a green for right now. It's an added bonus that it matches the color of that Retro Pop so well! The Midnight and Writer's Blood are also stellar inks. I can see why the Writer's Blood is such a popular color.

The Pilot Lightive is a wonderful pen to write with. I can definitely see the difference between the German fine of the Lamy Safari and the Japanese fine of the Pilot. For as fine as it is, there is very little feedback and it just glides over the paper. I've been using it quite a bit over the last few days!

The HongDian just arrived about twenty minutes ago, but I'm quite pleased with it so far. It has the same width as the Pilot despite it being sold as an extra-fine. It has a lot of feedback, but it's not what I'd call scratchy. It just lets you know that the paper has some tooth. It's a heavy pen, weighing in more than the Metro, which is a physically larger pen. It also needs a bit heavier hand to get the ink flowing. My other pens just need the weight of the pen, but the HongDian needs the slightest bit of pressure at the start of a line.

I'm excited to keep writing with all of my new toys!

Thank you for being awesome, too! Setting up a new space on a new platform takes some gumption, and we're grateful that you've given us a place!

Lost In Transit would be an awesome name for an ink!

I've been running a Hubzilla instance for years, so I feel your pain. Thank you for all that you do!

Bummer! I ordered some more ink yesterday, but not the Emerald. I'm still holding onto hope for that one!

It is taking sopuli.xyz a while to find the picture, but I can see it!

That is a beautiful pen, and I love the nib! Your handwriting is not crap, by the way. It looks like the handwriting of an illustrator.

Ooh! That is pretty! I just ordered some more ink, and now I regret not adding that one to the list!

I bet that your cat has better penmanship than I do! Adorable!

It is a beauty, and amazing to work with. The only other brush pens that I've tried are the cheap, bulk art sets. I didn't realize just how cheap they were until working with the Kuretake. Well worth the price!

Wow! That's much better than I had anticipated. Thank you for the picture!

My Diamine Emerald is still lost somewhere in the depths of the USPS. This is the fourth day since it went underground like a compromised undercover agent. It was last spotted in Atlanta, but I hope that it is getting chased by the police on motor scooters through the alleys of Antwerp. It looks like a beautiful ink, and I hope that its adventures make it feel like a badass instead of helpless, having fallen down behind some giant machine and hoping beyond hope that someone happens upon it.

Thank you! I've been looking at them as a potential purchase, but that really thick posted cap just looked kind of uncomfortable to use. I may need to give one a shot!

What a lovely color! Are the Kaweco's as chunky as they look?

Not technically a fountain pen, but the Karetake No 13 brush pen has a refillable converter and takes fountain pen inks.

This is only my second ink, but I am amazed by it so far! It is a vastly wetter ink than the Karetake black cartridge, and it bleeds through quite a bit cheaper paper, at least with the bath that a brush pen provides. My Leuchtturm1917 is robust enough for it, though. So far, I've been pairing it with iroshizuku murasaki-shikibu (Beautyberry) in a Lamy Safari. It is a lovely contrast in my opinion.

It's my first Pilot and my first italic nib. I'm really liking it so far! It's such a happy looking pen, the weight is lovely, and it's smooth as glass to write with. I love my Lamy Safari, but this one feels more substantial in the hand.
