I really hope that FreeCAD will get better with time, and the Blender story will be the same for FreeCAD. Just a few years back, Blender was really bad compared with Maya, now Autodesk lost a huge market because Blender is powerful enough for professional work, probably even better than Maya

I just googled "BASF T-Shirt" and immediately found the one he is wearing in this video (and he wear it in a couple of other videos recently)

I don't see people hating discord for it, just pointing out that it was a bad choice from the beginning

I use my 3d printer sooo often to print templates for the router. A handheld router and a 3d printer are a combination made in heaven, I love it so much!

I don't want to set a misunderstanding: this does not solve the state on reboot issue, maybe "flawlessly" is not the correct word. On a reboot, all automations are always stopped, so that does not help here.

It's also important to set the mode of the automation to "restart", then it works flawlessly

Ahh, okay yeah I get it. Would be a lot better for beginners if they just said "I'm going to use a Domino, if you don't own one you can use a dowel jig. Here is a video explaining how to do it" and link to a dowel jig tutorial. Would probably be the best for new watchers and doesn't annoy the long term viewers who know how to use dowels

Most contractors I know use Hiltis and that's a lot more expensive than Festool. But there's a sayinh that I heard once: Buy contractor grade tools, never buy contractor grade consumables

The thing with the cutoffs from previous projects etc I totally get, but the Domino is such a weird Tool to grime on

If the projects shown would use a dowel jig, you would only get one video per month from your favorite channel instead of one per week. Additionally, it would be extremely uninteresting to watch the YouTuber use the dowel jig after the first 2 videos you watch because it is tedious and not very interesting.

And I really dont see the point. As a hobby woodworker you would be able to complete the projects with the same result by using a dowel jig, it would just be more work for you. When they say "I use the Domino because I have it on hand, but you can use any tool that you own to join these boards" that really is true. The Domino does not change the outcome, it just makes the process easier.

ready for production the moment that patent expires

which is probably in 2025: https://www.wallybois.com/when-will-the-festool-domino-patent-expire/

We are almost there

I didnt know what happened, but I knew that I had some problems in the last weeks which I thought I fixed. The rods where to dusty which resulted in the X-Axis skipping. I cleaned thhe rodes and sprayed some Teflon grease on thm, as usual. Maybe something got into the electronics box and the grease isnt as non-conductive as I thought?

So I opened the electronics box, unplugged all cables and checked the fuses. No fuses blown. I checked all important power-traces and all worked fine. I was worried that it really was the last blow for the printer and in my head I already thought which one to get next.

But then I noticed the real problem: On my PC, Home Assistant was open. The selected entity was the zigbee-plug, on which my printer is connected. My cat was sitting on my keyboard. He stepped on my keyboard, pressed the key combination to select the Zigbee Plug and turned off the plug, cutting power to the printer. The beep was the power-failure. The printer didnt turn back on again, because the Zigbee plug was still turned off.

No hurt feelings, but if you ever have a similar problem: check your cats.

Also, here is a picture from the villain:
