This might be heresy, but I feel like saying that "science isn't truth, it's the search for truth", and "if you disagree it's not a disagreement, you're just wrong" is internally inconsistent.

Ah, I didn't realize it was your own post. Extra thanks for sharing then. I imagine it could be rather nerve-wracking.
Honestly, not sure if I find this wholesome so much as a little sad. But not sad in a tearful way, or in a "aw, poor thing" way. More... The way a rainy day can be sad? Or how nostalgia feels, even though they're not being nostalgic? It feels very raw, regardless, maybe even a little invasive, like getting a short glimpse into a person's soul, and a person who has not had an easy life, at that... I'm glad I read it though, so thanks for sharing
Saving this for later, as I want to hear responses as well.
Ah, I see this was before Thag's ultimate demise to the Thagomizer.
Said "shows", so I assumed the animated one

Is it "The Halloween Tree"? I haven't seen it, but the synopsis on Wikipedia sounds like it might match? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Halloween_Tree_(film)
Edit: I found it online, and while there is a scene with witches at Stonehenge, I couldn't find anything with slugs. Probably not what OP is looking for
Have you checked the authors? Maybe it's just one, really exhausted, parent who's super done with the whole thing :P
