This is a good example of how fascists and right wingers can ruin anything and everything. Bharat is a name with a shit ton of really fascinating history behind it. But let nationalists claim it as theirs and theirs alone, and it will eventually be just as ruined as the swastika.

Man do I miss r/Hinduism! Also the advaita vedanta sub and a few others. Have you found any good lemmy communities for Dharmic philosophies?

I bought a different brand of this a few years ago, and despised it. It was super thin and the headphones would press into me painfully as I slept. Turns out it was just a cheap brand. Pulled the headphones out and put them inside a sleep mask I knitted myself. Absolutely in love with it now. So wonderful.

Oh, remembered another, too. To irritate people me and my brother both, whenever we hear someone arguing how to pronounce "gif," we insist it should be pronounced Zsif. Like zsa zsa Gabor's first name. If you're familiar with Linux, there's a thing about whether the DE gnome should be pronounced guh-nome or nome. I'll pronounce it with a glottal stop at the beginning instead, and it drives people insane. (If you're unfamiliar with glottal stop, think of the way some northern England accents pronounce the t in water. "wa?er")

Super weird one. Produce bags from the grocery store are called "gnome bags."

Years ago, we found out that Walmart does not mind if you just take a whole roll of those bags. We use them instead of zip locks, sandwich baggies, Saran wrap, and dog poo bags. They became "gnome" bags because we had an old toilet paper roll holder in the shape of a gnome that we hung up to hold the roll of bags, and we all just started calling them gnome bags until it got to the point where we'll occasionally say it in public accidently. Lol.

I'm a Lemmy newb, but what I've been doing is copying the instance address, and paste it into Jerboa if I'm mobile, or into a different tab where I'm logged into my instance on browser. It's not hard, but it worries me that people aren't going to understand it going forward. I'm hoping eventually it gets a little more integrated.

Been on bitwarden for 3 years and same. Tried to log into an old account a week or two ago, and realized I hadn't added it to bitwarden. It was exhausting going through the forgot password bullshit and trying to remember old passwords and stuff. BW makes life better.

Iirc, lemmy.ml is a specifically leftist instance, right? They may have banned the word because of its sexist nature. A bit like allowing fuck, but not allowing the other f word that generally applies to gay men. Swearing isn't the issue, slurs or derogatory terms are.

I really appreciate the reply. I think I'm going to stick with Lemmy for now, since it has a mobile app I enjoy, and I'm mobile the vast majority of the time. I'll just also make a mastodon, and follow the other things on there. Maybe when Kbin gets a mobile app I'll consider switching.

I'm seriously in awe of how people act on this side of things. A dozen replies, none of them hostile. I never got that on the other site! Lol.

I'm still not entirely sure what kbin is. Is there a mobile app for it?

[–] DharmaCurious@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I know I can do it the other way around. I was just hoping to do it through Lemmy, since I've already followed just about everything I can think of on here. I was hoping for, like, one superfeed, with mastodon, peertube, Lemmy together.

Hey, folks. I'm new to this whole Fediverse thing. One of the things I've been most excited try out is the whole cross platform aspect, where you can follow peertube/mastodon/lemmy accounts from the other sites. I have my reddit account mostly switched over. I went through and found (I think) all of the communities I follow that have a presence on Lemmy. I'd like to start following some Mastodon accounts from my Lemmy if possible, but all the instructions I find when searching it talk about following Lemmy from Mastodon, not the other way around. When I copy the Mastodon links and search them within Lemmy, no results are found. I've tried through a browser, through Jerboa, and through Connect.

Can anyone help me?

Please and thank you!

I really, really like connect. But I'm in a sub for a word game, and the only way to spoiler the screenshots (so that I can read the clues, but not get the answer) is to NSFW tag it. Connect still shows the unblurred images, even if I choose to have blur turned on. I'm on Jerboa until that gets fixed. Since you use connect, have you found a problem like that with yours?
