Now THIS is pod racing.

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

They filled the truck beds with a bunch of fish. It's actually cod racing.

[–] RandomStickman@kbin.run 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Actually they filled the truck beds with grass-covered surface soil. It's actually sod racing.

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Wrong again, they filled both trucks with metal poles, this is rod racing.

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Still wrong, the beds are obviously empty. Only some people can enter this race, this is Todd racing.

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Turns out the beds are filled with the discarded shells from shucking peas. This is Pod Racing…

[–] MrQuallzin@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Nah, they actually filled them with collectible cardboard bottle caps. This is POG Racing

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It was a convoluted Dutch smuggling operation, the event was a cover. This is clog racing.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

These are all lies to cover up that each truck was filled with one obese dead body. This is called bod racing.

The bed of each truck is filled with a family of dolphins. This is pod racing.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (2 children)

It has to be a sand race because the Cybertruck gets completely disabled from moisture.

[–] Thorny_Insight@lemm.ee 0 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I'm out of the loop on this one..?

[–] joneskind@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (5 children)
[–] Thorny_Insight@lemm.ee 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah but surely not to the point of getting disabled?

You forgot to turn on Rain Mode

A cyber truck had a major malfunction and stopped working because it went into a car wash without being in “car wash” mode. The joke is that Cybertrucks cannot get wet.

[–] Thorny_Insight@lemm.ee 0 points 4 months ago (16 children)

Ah.. If I remember correctly; not being in a carwash mode caused the screen to freeze and because of a bug the hard reset took hours instead of minutes. The car was back up and running the next day and I believe the bug has been patched as well

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 months ago (2 children)

That’s not something that should happen to a car that is on the road.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 0 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Technically a car wash is not the road. Checkmate, atheists.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago

Waiting for the day we see the advisement to put the Tesla into carwash mode during heavy rainfalls.

Unacceptable behavior for a vehicle.

[–] buttfarts@lemy.lol 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Personally I would enjoy spending $100k+ to get to be the beta tester for a half-baked product

My “car wash mode” is rolling up the windows, haven’t ever had the car I own brick itself on me.

Nonsense design vanity project made for toddler CEO underperforms in comparison to actual pickup designed and built by manufacturer of the top selling pickup.. who would have guessed.

I bet Musk thought he was a genius that could revolutionize trucks, just like Apple revolutionized smartphones.
I admit I still think the model S was pretty cool originally, but now there are better offers IMO, BMW and Audi have some very nice upper middle class cars, that I doubt very much Tesla can match the quality of. If money is not a problem, I'd go with a Mercedes. For a cheaper practical everyday car, I'd go with VW or Hyundai.

But goddam I just tried my neighbors BMW I4- eDrive 40, that's an amazing car with great range IMO. I've never been in a car that was that silent smooth and comfortable, and yet had stellar grip and handling. Even when you fired it up with everything it has, it was still quiet, you just felt the pressure of acceleration in the back. 😋

No shit, the Cybertruck can't offroad.

[–] Quetzlcoatl@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Cybertruck cant really truck. Turns out its just hot wheels for man-children.

[–] spacesatan@lemm.ee 0 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

That's what the majority of (sedans masquerading as) trucks are used for anyway.

[–] LinusSexTips@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Pavement Princess or emotional support vehicle. Really hate the area I live in currently, my street is cluttered with them.

Turns out its just hot wheels for man-children.

Like 90% of the point of hot wheels was looking cool, so I have to respectfully disagree

[–] legion02@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

My six year old thinks it looks cool. If you adjust for hot wheels demographics I think they're golden

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I have decades more experience in being a child and I think it looks stupid.

Similar to, but not quite the same as the kind of man-child that buys an F-150 on the off chance they need to haul a dresser once every 4 years. Seriously though, if each one of these buyers keeping US truck bloat in style bought a motorcycle instead to cement their self-worth, traffic would be eliminated in most US cities. That's not possible due to many factors, I know, but it must be said motorcycles are just way cooler.

[–] RecallMadness@lemmy.nz 0 points 4 months ago

Problem then is, You Still gotta buy a truck to buy and haul your 2nd motorcycle, your 3rd motorcycle, your dirt bike, and your track bike.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago

These insecure babies would never get on a motorcycle, it's too dangerous.

Suburban moms: i cant get an EV, what if i need to do sand drag racing

load more comments (1 replies)
[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

in sand, weighing 2000 pounds more matters. so does grappler tires.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 months ago

Yes, this race was already lost on paper. The execution frankly was likely just an excuse for some folks to dust off their Maga hats and crack open some beers.

[–] LEDZeppelin@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

That explains why Elon suddenly came out against drag 😉

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago
[–] jaschen@lemm.ee 0 points 4 months ago (5 children)

Not a Tesla fan but this is a stupid article. Driving on sand is 100% driver skills and tires. You could have a McLaren and a smart car with sand tires and the smart would win all day.

[–] ringwraithfish@startrek.website 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Tesla has branded it as a truck. As a layman who isn't a Tesla simp or a motorhead, I would expect a comparison with other popular trucks if I were interested in learning more about it.

[–] jaschen@lemm.ee 0 points 4 months ago (3 children)

It is a truck. Not all trucks can drive in sand. It all comes down to driver skills and whatever tire is used on it. Who knows what tires the Ford is running.

Shit, I have seen two identical cars with identical tires and except one had lower tire pressure. The lower tire pressure won every time.

This is a stupid article designed for you guys to circlejerk on a brand. I mean enjoy the jerk. Elon deserves it. But don't make it seem like it's scientific. It's just a circlejerk.

[–] Kimano@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago

The driver skill is hard to control, but I would assume they had equal pressure in the tires, or at least close enough. There's also more things that matter like tire width, lockers, horsepower, weight etc.

Even if it's not a perfectly scientific test, it can still be interesting
