This sounds pretty good actually because it addresses my main concern with DISCO after the time jump. There has been almost no world building in the last two seasons. The 32nd century still feels like a blank canvas and a wasted opportunity. Particularly season 4 could have taken place during any other era without needing to change anything about the story.
And that they don't drag out the mystery is a huge plus too.
I'm much more optimistic about season 5 now.
Here’s the review from Cinemablend.
Not sure I agree that season 4 was the best. I’m in the camp that felt the pacing was off. But then I really liked seasons 1 & 3, and ran hot and cold on season 2, which pretty much makes me an outlier among Discovery fans.
I think season three is the best season of Discovery, and should be in any conversation about the best overall Star Trek seasons.
Discovery season 4 once they get outside the galaxy, is amazing, seeking out new life and new civilization, discovering a novel method of communication, and solving a galaxy spanning threat by talking.
I think that except about Season 4. Which surprises myself because I was not too big on 1-3.
