The KDE Slimbook V, first laptop πŸ’» with Plasma 6, has arrived!

Make the most of KDE's upcoming #Plasma6 desktop thanks to the KDE #Slimbook V's AMD 7840HS CPU, AMD 780M GPU and beautiful 16'' WQXGA (2560 Γ— 1600) screen, all packaged in a stylish sleek aluminium chassis.

Oh COME ON. Where was this when my laptop died a month ago? I had to replace it asap and the previous kde slimbook was already out of stock. I got a great tuxedo, but this one is the same price and much better specs... I have the worst timing. Great news for everyone else though!

The laptop already has prerelease Plasma 6?

@Pantherina @slimbook

Plasma 6 tars were made available to packagers yesterday. So, yes, distro packagers and OEM installers already have the software and are installing it now ready for next Wednesday's official release.

Looks like a generic Clevo laptop. I assume slimbook.es are just a system builder and don’t have anything to do with the KDE team?

They are sponsors, so they support KDE financially. They also donate a % from each laptop sale to KDE. KDE devs work closely with Slimbook to make sure all software integrates well with the hardware.

That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing.

@slimbook @kde Wow. Impressing specs. I can imagine using it as my daily driver. Can you tell if Debian (Plasma) will work on it, too?

@slimbook @kde If only laptops like this were sold more often in the United States. Instead, it's always Windows or Mac, Mac or Windows. I miss the OS/2 days; it may not have been good, but at least some computers sold with a third option.

We need more Linux machines! This coming from a daily Windows user... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
