Since we launched our first paid plans in 2015, our Premium price has never changed. Now the time has come to update our plans. While prices for existing subscribers will not change, we have an awesome one-time offer if you decide to switch to the new plans right now: Get the new plans at half price and benefit from more email addresses, lots of storage, and more features!

That's all nice but their lowest paid plan also just tripled in price (while getting more features).

Huh, apparently my account was deleted, as I hadn't logged in for 6+ months. What's odd is that my Tutanota e-mail address still exists, but can "be taken over by someone with a paid account".

Nevermind, I re-read the FAQ, it can't be taken over by just anyone apparently. https://tutanota.com/faq/#inactive-accounts

Yep, same. Wish it was possible to recover the data that was on there, but it's my fault for not reading about their policy on inactivity.

I tried to make a free account before using a vpn, and it worked for a little bit, but was quickly permanently locked with no warning.

Otherwise, I really do like it. I wonder if it would still get locked if I paid with monero.
