I am working on a green topic for datacenters and homelab.

the question is when we speak about environmental effect, reusing second hand older hardware that might use a bit more energy or newly produced devices that follow all new standards and ofc using less energy?

which one is a better solution from ecological perspective in your expert opinion?

Depends on the ratio. Producing and shipping new hardware has its cost too.
