The King of the US announcing another decree after being mildly annoyed by something.
At this point, switching to plastic straws feels like such a reprieve. Can we keep him focused on little annoyances like this? Or making him hysterical that the 7-11 ran out of Cheetos?
My issue here is him just decreeing anything he wants whenever he wants and that seems to just be accepted. My guess is he's annoyed that people are saying Musk is president so he issued a decree to remind people that he is king, but why is this being tolerated at all?
Idono what the correct solution is but paper straws apparently contain a lot of PFas and are really not good for anyone either...
Glass straws can break... And might contain PFas
Metal straws are also a safety hazard apparently... But seem to be the best choice...
Bamboo straws also contain PFas...
So... Just say no to straws?

Perhaps the solution is with the lids and not the straws?
I mean I assume you have the same issues with lids...
They can be thicker meaning it may be easier to produce them out of materials like bio plastics.

Yes by far plastic is more common still. I almost never see paper ones.
And when I do, I throw a shit-fit and hope our god emperor outlaws them. Or maybe I just don't notice or care.

This would work itself out over time. No one likes soggy straws. It's actually caused some innovation. They have straws made from plants now that aren't too bad.
Get out of here with your woke straws. If it isn't guaranteed to kill a dolphin every time I take a drink I don't want any part of it.
The pasta straws are neat. Probably cheaper/less complex to make too.

We should either use plant based plastics for them or just not use them at all.
I've read that paper straws are lined with plastic, specifically PFAS, since paper will naturally fall apart in water. A thin lining if plastic is technically less plastic, but if it's PFAS then IMO it's just worse than a 100℅ plastic straw.
I doubt they are lined with plastic because they absolutely do fall apart. They last about five minutes before they start to fall apart. Paper straws are nothing new. My parents grew up with them.
I don't think there's a standard. Some are, some aren't.
Yeah, I've used some pretty good cellulose ones, they must cost 5% more to make though, so it's impossible.
