hasn't it always been this way for american tax payers and isreal? the article seems to suggest that this is something new somehow, so it's confusing.

Yeah but the media had to pretend it wasn't like this under Biden to try to manufacture consent

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 5 points 1 week ago

Yeah.

A main discussion around the election was that people said they wouldn't vote for Biden due to his support of the Palestinian genocide. A counterargument to it was that Trump was going to be a better Israeli ally than Trump, so it isn't like the situation would improve with either candidate on this issue.

Trump has paused billions in federal spending, but he is making sure Israel gets its aid.

Israelis have universal healthcare and some of the most permissive abortion laws

Genuinely surprised by this.

"Nothing will fundamentally change" was the truest thing Biden ever said.

Like I've said before, this is where your trickle down economics are trickling down to.

Why don't you explain why you think this so if someone read this they would understand what you are even saying, instead of linking to a graph and a post about Milei with no explanations, I'm not reading that and I guarentee other people aren't either.

And if this an MMT thing, I flatly disagree with MMT, so agree to disagree I guess.

  1. Everyone in the US is affected, regardless of whether they pay federal taxes, or how much. Not only “taxpayers” are affected.
  2. US federal taxes pay for literally nothing. Not figuratively: literally.

.

I’m not reading that and I guarentee other people aren’t either.

I can’t make you read, but don’t speak for other people.

I flatly disagree with MMT

Maybe if you read the articles & watched the videos, you’d understand what MMT actually says, instead of what its detractors say it says using straw man arguments. The bourgeoisie have a vested interest in you not understanding it, and they have think tanks working to make sure you don’t understand it.

Regardless of whether I agree with MMT this is a much more useful thing to do vs linking two posts with no explanation

And fyi I have engaged with MMT enough to know I disagree with it, I have read Michael Hudson and engaged with podcasts with people who subscribe to it.

Okay. If MMT is wrong about how fiat money works, then how does it work?

[–] Garibaldee@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

I have better things to do with my time, then debate MMT on lemmy, or debate on lemmy in general.
